Will the Doctor still die on Trenzalore?

Queen Mab

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Am I correct in thinking that there is still evidence/it is still likely the Doctor will die/have a tomb on Trenzalore?

We saw him go there and witness the Tomb and all?

Because he didn't die during the Siege of Trenzalore are people thinking he wont die there at all? Was this explicitly stated? Am I missing something? I'm quite happy to be wrong.

If there was a reference in an episode would you be so kind as to provide the episode's time index please?

He changed the future (with Clara's help) - that was the point of the conversation earlier between Him and her to foreshadow that.

Having said that, as originally described wasn't his death at Trenzalore described as part of an 'insignificant' battle or am I misremember that?

Don't have a time index at hand, but the Doctor insisted that he can't change this (fixed) point in time. He could have once, if there were still Time Lords around, but not anymore.
Then Clara goes ahead and persuades the Time Lords through the crack to help him change the future by allowing him not to die right then and there.

Death at Trenzalore averted, though Eleventh still falls there.

Edit: @Joe Zhang: it was described as "not his biggest battle" I think, but enough to do him in...

Given the Time War, it's entirely possible it wasn't his biggest battle.

I understood the scene to mean that he isn't going to die there, but I don't think there was anything explicitly said one way or the other.

Okay.. wouldnt that break reality then? As he went and saw his tomb.. and it influenced him for the next few hundred years.. but it wont happen.. so it wont influence him..

but from the Doctor's POV the Tomb thing did happen.. in his past (though in the planets future) so it did happen.. right?

Don't dare me to pull the timey-whimey card!

The TARDIS is going to be pissed.

Why would she have been designing future console rooms to be used after his death.

suddenly he's got another thousand years of life left and she is behind the curve in designing console rooms for those next ten centuries.

Poor girl. :(

What does that matter? She coulda just used an old one..

What Im asking is.. when Clara and Doctor and Strax and that were on Trenzalore.. that wasnt an alternative timeline.. that was their Prime Timeline right?

and whether the Time Lords magicked it different in the Xmas episode.. and made the future of the planet different.. those Events did occur in the Past for the Doctor and Clara an' that.. so the tomb isn't a possible alternate future.. they are the past.. subjectively..

Why do you think she is crashing after the regeneration again?

There is only the prime line. Every universe in parallel (not touching!) only has only one time line that is constantly being rewritten ever so slightly as time keeps wavering between fixed points.

Although Trensalor happened "originally" without River, and the the church tried to change everything, but it still all wound up kinda the same...

Changing things so that he doesn't die should remove The Name Of The Doctor (and therefore the entire Impossible Girl story thread) from the timeline. But the Cracks-Amy-River storyline should be still around since the Kovarian faction was trying to prevent the opening of the Trenzalore crack, not the opening of the Doctor's tomb.

As for whether the Doctor still dies there, there's the fact that the Doctor's timeline in The Name Of The Doctor apparently ended with his Matt Smith incarnation. Though, interestingly, the same episode contains a reference to the Valeyard, which the Great Intelligence states is a future name of the Doctor. Maybe he acquires it during all those years in Christmas town, then.

^ Yep, it could be Doctor #25 that dies there.

There would still be a TARDIS tomb, but it would be harder to explain why it was Matt's control room.

I'm certain Moffat knew he was going to give the Doctor more regenerations in TTOTD when he wrote TDOTD, or much earlier.

According to the Great Intelligence: "a minor skirmish by his blood soaked standards. Certainly not the Time War, but enough to finish him."

There would still be a TARDIS tomb, but it would be harder to explain why it was Matt's control room.

That's simple: the Doctor reverted to using that desktop at some point prior to the battle.

Or, the TARDIS reverted the desktop to the Eleventh's familiar one when he entered the tomb. She wasn't quite dead yet, was she?

There shouldn't be cracks in their universe anymore.

The Cracks were in the universe before the Doctor rebooted it.

In the world as it stood where Prisoner Zero didn't eat Amy's family becuase there was no crack in her room.... The TARDIS didn't exist to blow up until after Amy wished him alive again.

The Daleks destroyed how many thousands, hundreds of thousands of TARDISES (Time and Relative Dimensions in Space Effing Space.) in the Time War and the Universe never blew up.

Or, the TARDIS reverted the desktop to the Eleventh's familiar one when he entered the tomb. She wasn't quite dead yet, was she?

This is the best answer.

Though, were all the vines and whatnot growing in there part of the desktop theme?
