why did voyager not get tng style uniforms

have been wondering this for a while we did not see these during voyagers run and there where plenty of opportunities for them harry working on earth the episode at the utopia planitia yards

Voyager started after TNG and the uniforms were in transition during "Generations" (also before Voyager). So basically the reason the VOY crew never wore the TNG uniforms is because the Starfleet uniform had changed by then. Both VOY and TNG were wearing the same uniforms until the change to the grey topped ones, and VOY obviously didn't change since they were away in the Delta Quadrant and keeping up with the latest Starfleet uniform was hardly the first thing on their min.

that does not make sense when sisko was on earth everyone wore the tng style uniforms

There you go. On Earth they wore those uniforms. The ones worn for starship duty could be different. (AFAIK, on modern US Navy vessels, the choice of uniform of the day is left up to the captain. Perhaps it's the same here.)

I don't know about "plenty" of opportunities to show the TNG uniforms, but by the time the Voyager episodes could show scenes on Earth for whatever reason, the DS9/VOY uniforms seemed to spread like wildfire.

Though, the question seems to be fair but from a production standpoint. The last time we chronologically see the uniforms is in DS9's "Tears of the Prophets," side by side with the First Contact-style uniforms:

Earth refused to give up the TNG uniforms while DS9 was sporting the movie uniforms, but by the time voyager gets found, the earthlings are all wearing movie uniforms as if they never bothered with the early ds9 uniforms, skipping an entire fashion season.

I guess it all really depends on if uniforms are washed or continually broken down and then refabricated in their clothing synthisizers (Like O'Briens socks.)

That would still require personal sonic laundries or communal sonic laundries or a sonic laundry service.

The last two of which would require a detachment of crew to service and an officer to act as a department head thereof.

From TNG In theory...

JENNA: Thank you, Data. You're very generous.
(later, at a table)
KEIKO: Every night, Miles leaves his socks on the floor. When we got married, I made the mistake of picking them up a few times. Then I realised, if I kept it up I'd be doing it the rest of my life. So I stopped, figuring he'd get the point and do it himself. One night goes by, two, a week, ten days. By now there's a pile of socks half a metre high.
O'BRIEN: Come on, it wasn't half a metre.
KEIKO: After two weeks I couldn't stand it any more. I bundled them up and put them in the cleaning processor. And I'm still doing it.
O'BRIEN: And a very good job she does of it, too.

Now stop bickering before I get my guy stick out.

How do you know they didn't have a sonic cleaner in crew quarters and they just dumped their uniform in their each night?

Maybe it's not a cleaner. Could be just a replicator that breaks down the old uniform and reassembles a brand new one.

Personally, I would have preferred it if VOY had followed Star Trek: Generations' and feature both the TNG and DS9 uniforms, with the latter being used more as fatigues than a standard duty uniform.
