Who are your favorite Sorcerers?

I wish I could remember the Sacred Charm of Making.

It was something (phoenetically speaking) like "Annal nathrak, Uthos Bethod, Doch'heil dienve"

* Misty fog begins to surround Captain Pike

I found it!:D

Link

Phonetic: anal nathrak, uthvas bethud, do che-ol di-enve.

Old Irish:Anal nathrach, orth' bhais's bethad, do che'l de'nmha.
or
Anáil nathrach orth bhais betha, do cheol déanta.

Hey I was close.

For my money , I?ll pick the most awesome sorcerer of them all; Tim the Enchanter, from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Oh i almost forgot, Morgoth & Sauron. Morgoth was the big bad in Silmarillion, probably the most powerful in tihe Tolkien universe. Sauron was the most powerful baddie in LOTR.

Wyatt Halliwell (Charmed) probably had the most variety of magic - Force field, Telekinetic Orbing, Molecular Combustion, Minor Projection, Conjuration, Sensing, Healing, Molecular Immobilization, Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis, Energy Balls, Ability to wield Excalibur.

I guess Darth Vader and Luke could also do "magic" with their manipulation of the Force.

In Chinese Wuxia, there is the power of Chi. Guo Jing had the 18 Dragons Palm in Legend of the Condor Heroes.

Raistlin Majere, Par Salian and Magius from The Dragonlance series.

Allanon, Walker Boh and Cogline from the Shannara Series by Terry Brooks

Gandalf the Grey from LoTR

Not to be picky, but neither Sauron nor Gandalf were actually sorcerers, they were Maiar - and Morgoth was a Valar; all closer to angels than sorcerers.

Balthazar from Charmed.

hey, he was a hunk and a bad guy you wanted to be good....;)

Almost forgot, Nicholas Blair from the original Dark Shadows....(early version of Balthazar IMHO, yummy!:drool:)

Gandalf, Saruman, Radagast, et al were of the order of wizards, or Istari, which fits well enough the description given in the OP:
Who are your favorite Sorcerers, Witch, Wizards, Mages or whatever you want to call a magic user?
Sauron fills the bill, too.

For myself, Gandalf and a few of the others already named, but also Dallben from the Chronicles of Prydain, whom I don't think has been mentioned yet. From the same stories, Arawn, Morda and Achren wouldn't be bad choices, either.

The Dresden Files:
Harry Dresden
Carlos Ramirez
Elaine Mallory
Molly Carpenter

The Codex Alera:
Antillar Maximus

Babylon 5:
Galen the Technomage
