What We Still Don't Know About The 24th Century

Picard fills in alot of info about the post-TNG era, but little things we don't know. Here's a few questions I would like answered eventually....along with my fan fic version

1. Who's the Captain of the Enterprise? Fan fic version: Either Karen Decker, great-grandchild of Commodore Decker (TOS) and grandchild of Captain Decker (TMP), Demora Sulu or Wesley Crusher.

2. What letter is the Ent. on now? Is anybody left that we know? FF version: Enterprise NCC-1701 G

3. How long were the Rikers on the Titan? Did Will ever reconnect with Thomas? FF version: 10 years and no. Tom died.However he is in regular contact with his "niece" Deborah Riker, Thomas's daughter. Kestra is especially close with her.

4. Where is the Romulan home world? FF version: whatever planet New Vulcan is in the Kelvin timeline is New Romulus here

2. Still Enterprise-E as of the novel.
3. Until Thaddius' illness and they moved to Nepenthe. How old was he when he died? Picard arrived on what would have been his 18th birthday, so we can work back for a rough idea.
4. I suspect the Romulan splinter states have established homeworlds throughout the former Empire, each claiming to be the true one. The Romulan Free State is the group recognised by the Federation. In Star Trek Online, Rator III becomes the new Romulan capital.

I don't think Demora is still around at 230 years old. Maybe a "next generation" (or two) Sulu?

3. How long were the Rikers on the Titan? Probably only a few years, if Thad 'grew up on starships.'

Did Will ever reconnect with Thomas? I'm sure Thomas is dead.

4. Where is the Romulan home world? Blown up.

1. Unknown. Martin Madden was supposed to be its new First Officer at the end of Nemesis (in a deleted scene), but its unknown if he was ever promoted to captain, or if he’s on the Enterprise anymore/alive anymore. Meanwhile, the novel Last Best Hope suggests the captain is Worf. So, its likely Wolf, especially if the writers want to retcon the ST ‘09 Countdown comic to be in line with PIC, since Data was supposed to be captain of the Enterprise in that comic and we know that was never the case.

Sidenote: If Last Best Hope is considered canon, it also means that the involvement of Picard, Spock, La Forge & the Vulcans in regards to the Jellyfish and red matter to save Romulus (according to the ST 09 Countdown comic) may be retconned to been under the radar of Starfleet/Federation and hasn’t come to light yet.

2. It’s possibly still the E; it was supposed to still be around the time of the Romulan supernova according to the ST ‘09 Countdown comic. So it's supposed to still be around circa 2387. However, the Picard Countdown comics have an Odyssey-class starship in existence circa 2380s, which is what the Enterprise-F is in Star Trek Online. So, E or F.

3. At least until Thad got sick. And no one knows what happened to Thomas Riker. Its possible he was forgotten about by everyone, since even Major Kira was supposed to come back for him. And we don’t know if the DS9 S8 idea for Kira is canon either, since its believable that that version of Kira came back for Thomas Riker eventually.

4. STO claims Rator III is the new homeworld of the Romulan Star Empire. But the true status of the Romulan Free State is unknown beyond the fact that the Neutral Zone has collapsed – because the Romulan Empire is gone – and warlords are using 23rd century BoPs. Note that the Vault – a cloaked Romulan military starbase that’s a safe haven for both Romulan leadership in times of crisis and a rendezvous for the Romulan Star Navy – hasn’t been made canon either yet even though it exists in STO as well.

I’m curious why people think we’ll be on an Enterprise F and that it’s going to be modeled on something from STO.

If we see the Enterprise, I’m almost 100% positive that it will be the F, but not the F from STO.

You're correct. Chabon said in one of his Q&A's that Thad died at 15 and that the Riker-Troi's had moved to Nepenthe when Thad was 10.

1. I would prefer that whoever the Captain is, s/he is not a descendant of Archer, Kirk, Decker, Spock, Sulu, Crusher, Pike or anyone else we know. I dont mind descendants in the stories but that's a little too much SUS for me.

2. The 1701-F is fine. E is good too. That ship isnt that old. I would prefer it be something different. Non-Eavesian would be best.

3. No idea. I would say 5-10 years. I would prefer more frequent changes in ship commands, and crew in general. But given what we've seen, 5-10 seems likely. I would say Tom is alive and they have reconnected.

4. Another world in Romulan territory. There should be a huge number of options. Doubt it would be wherever New Vulcan is.

Well, I don't know a ton about STO, but I just chose G based on the idea that there's really no reason not to remodel it after every tour of duty. Resources aren't a problem.
