What songs remind you of Star Trek?

Tribbles

Commander
Red Shirt
Are there any songs that remind you of certain Star Trek characters, relationships, events, or just the world of space exploration in general? I often find myself searching for songs relevant to the Spock/Uhura relationship, for example. I thought it might be fun if we compiled song suggestions in one thread. If we have enough songs, I'll categorize and paste them into this first post so it can all be easily referenced. :)

1) Suggestions can be silly or serious. Have fun with it!
2) Any Star Trek series is fair game.
3) All relationships are also fair game, whether they are popular or not.
4) Don't be shy about posting your ideas! I love 90's pop, so I definitely can't make fun of you. :D I'm sure everyone here will be nice and won't tease anyone for his or her musical preferences. Right, guys? ... Guys?
5) If possible, providing a link to the song would be most appreciated. Lyrics can be posted as well.

I'll post a few to start:

(nu)Spock/Uhura: Can't Fight This Feeling, REO Speedwagon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67Fb8XbpWMM

TOS Spock/various ladies: Almost Lover, A Fine Frenzy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsWsasqIoyk

TOS Kirk: I'm Too Sexy, Right Said Fred
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vziUC1IT0wo

Kirk/McCoy/Spock friendship: Friends, Flight of the Choncords
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVoCJJFuS60 (Warning: some crude humor in this song)

Okay, so those were all kind of lame and/or silly suggestions. I know you guys can bring the quality!

Kansas' Icarus: Borne on Wings of Steel

Lyricwise, it just IS Trek to me. Would beat the hell out of that thing used on the lil Ent series.

Stressin out by adema reminds me of janeway and the choices she had to make. Runaway by liken park reminds me of kes from fury. im probly gna think of some more

Not exactly that imaginative but...

Linkin Park: "In the End" for ENT Season 3. Somebody did a video for that but I haven't seen it since. "In the end, it doesn't even matter" pretty much summed up everything the show was doing on TV at that point.

Queen: "Don't Stop Me Now" for ENT Season 4 I expect.

Lenny Kravitz: "Fly Away" same season and a video I did when I was into doing them...

Wellllll, it shouldn't surprise you, but most of the songs that come to mind quickly are ones that remind me of my favorite Trek species.

Here are a few that capture what it would be like to live in the Cardassian Union--

Thrice--"Doublespeak"
Coldplay--"Spies"
Don Henley--"Inside Job" (Unfortunately could not find a vid without inflammatory graphics.)

Here are a few that remind me of particular characters or scenes...

The Battle of Cardassia...

Assault on the Colony, Part I and Part II (UNBELIEVABLE song. This is how the Battle of Cardassia should've been scored! At least the way I picture it, you can hear everything from the start of the battle to the turning of the Cardassian fleet to Damar's death, the genocide attempt and the aftermath when you see JUST how bad it really is below...you even get that full-circle moment where you're looking at planetwide devastation just like Bajor in Emissary and you hear, "ALL OF THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. ALL OF THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. SO SAY WE ALL." Right there, at 3:15, if the show were remastered, I'd want to start a flyover, not just a matte shot. High-altitude through the broken fleet, down through the clouds, until 4:00 where I'd break the cloud layer at only a couple thousand feet and pan across the devastation as you continue to fly over it like a survey shuttle. Think the helicopter shots of the damage in New Orleans during Katrina, and you'll get an idea of how I'd set this up. Then finally down to street level at about 4:55--maybe the scene inside Central Command where Sisko finds he cannot share that toast with Martok. At 6:19, that's where I'd leave Cardassia Prime and start the rest of the goodbyes. Maybe hint at the rest of the endgame at 7:11...I wouldn't have shown ANY of the Fire Caves stuff until that moment.)

Here are a few for O'Brien and Daro (from "The Wounded.")

Sometimes I think O'Brien is carrying this kind of anger in him, though he gets better as the series goes on. The bit about the wife seems particularly fitting, considering how little they really communicated...remember how he never discussed Setlik III. (That said, though, O'Brien was way, WAY better towards his children than the character in this song.)

Pink Floyd--"The Hero's Return": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwnCxvnmvKU

And this is SO the music for the Ten-Forward scene with Daro, and O'Brien's reaction. Seriously, if someone made a video of that scene and this music it would be AMAZING:

Pink Floyd--"Paranoid Eyes": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBpQnTQlgiE

Oh, and a song that reminds me of Daro. Listen carefully and the reason should be obvious.

Battlestar Galactica--"Reuniting the Fleet"/"Roslin Confesses": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o40JlfPou20
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NH9J_eV55ww&feature=related

(That last part is haunting...makes me think what Daro was feeling at the end of that same scene I just picked O'Brien's music for.)

Two more. Someone already made a video I wish I could take credit for, but I can't. The match-up here is AMAZING, and in this context the Kosst Dukat thing works PERFECTLY. (I know some people hated that plotline, but I was OK with it.)

(Another GREAT thing about this vid...even though we never hear Dukat's voice until the end, this is SUCH a great study in excellent acting through body language.)

The last one...well, it's a tearjerker. All I can say is that aside from ONE line, it is an eerily perfect fit to the end of "Ties of Blood and Water" and the scenes that we never saw. Man, even the voice seems perfect for Tekeny...

Les Miserables--Finale

"Sleeping Satellite" by Tasmin Archer. This song would have been so much better for the first season of Enterprise - it's about her resentment that our space program hasn't progressed farther, but it could just as easily be about the humans resentment that the Vulcans have held them back.

"I Will Be With You" by T'Pau. This song makes me think of pre-Reformation Vulcan, especially the part of "Spock's World" by Diane Duane involving the asteroid miners and the way one of them spent all her time in "imagery" because of her estranged relationship with her betrothed.

Thanks so much, everyone, for your contributions! I'm hoping I can go through and listen to them all tonight.

What's that song that talks about showing a border guard an ID that says "Jean-Luc Picard of the United Federation of Planets" because he won't speak English anyway? Granted, it's not much of a stretch, but it does remind me of the show.

"I'll Bring You Home Again Kathleen"

Also, Jim Morrison singing reminds me of the ep, Way to Eden; the style/groove, plus Morrison's voice is low like Dr. Sevrin's speaking voice. Actually like the ACTOR who played him, I mean. Do we reach?
