What is your favorite 80s movie franchise with at least 4 films?

urbandk

Commodore
Commodore
Besides ST of course.

Hands down, American Ninja for me, but only the Dudikoff ones.

I loved "The Neverending Story"..the music itself had me thinking of the stars. :)

I scanned through my list of every movie I've seen and Indiana Jones is the only series that comes close to your criteria (has a 2008 film) so I would have to go with that.

Wow, that's some tough criteria...

Hmm, 80s?

Maybe Friday the 13th?

I like nice scary films, and they did used to be scary. I'll think about other choices though...

What about the Police Academy movies? Sure they got more and more unbearable as they went, but you can't deny the charm and love in each and every one of them. (Except #7.)

"Why do you think I took you to see all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well I didn't hear anybody laughing!"

I'd also go with the Police Academy films, but only the Guttenberg ones. The post-Guttenberg ones had their moments, but after he left, they weren't the same.

"Except at that guy who made sound effects.... Now where was I? Oh yeah: Stay away from my booze!" :guffaw:

"Haven't you learned anything from that guy that gives those sermons in church? Captain What's-his-name."

Hmm... Well the first two Rocky movies were late 70s.The first Lethal Weapon was 87, but that was more a 90s series. Indiana Jones sort of counts, except "Crystal Skull" may the worst movie I've ever seen... Godfather was mostly 70s, again, only 3 movies.

I'm going with Rocky even though it's technically late 70s, early 80s.

no iron eagle fans? karate kid? i think stuff that started in the seventies but is primarily associated with the 80s is fine. aren't there any other trashy 80s franchises out there?

Nothing from ''THAT'' decade!

The 80's rocked you hater :klingon:

I don't think Rocky would qualify, but it was a great franchise with 1-4. Lethal Weapon and LW2 were good, but after that -- CRAP. IMHO, Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the best films of all time, and the prequel/sequels were so-so.

I'd probably say the Nightmare on Elm Street series off the top of my head.
Meh. I remember when the original hit HBO. My friends and I watched it and it freaked us out. The second one was OK, but after that, total shit :scream:

The Police Academy movies (at least the first four) are total laugh riots.

How about the Revenge of the Nerds films?

I guess the Heisei Godzilla series, though only two of its entries were made in the 1980s ("Gojira"/"The Return of Godzilla" and "Godzilla vs. Biollante"). The last two movies are pretty lame ("Space Godzilla" and "Destroyah"), but up through "MechaGodzilla" in '93 it was a solid, entertaining series. MechaGodzilla is the fifth movie, so it fits the "four movie" requirement even if you ignore the sixth and seventh films... which I do.

Same here. Gotta go with Indy.
