What happened to the SGC?

In the past, all space based operations were conducted through the SGC. Indeed, the crews of offworld ships and bases were all attached to the SGC (they even wore SGC or SG Project patches).

However, in SGU, the SGC is nowhere to be seen. Is it possible that Stargate Command has been shut down? I know that in the real world the Cheyenne Mountain Complex has largely been shut down. Is it possible that the SGC is no longer in operation?

There's been no onscreen mention on the fate of the SGC's Cheyenne base. We know that Pegasus stargates supersede the MW gates, so when anyone dials Earth, the Atlantis gate would activate. We can assume ops were relocated there for awhile. Our problem is that the ATL movie is supposed to take place shortly after Enemy at the Gate, and before Universe, so they're avoiding revealing where Stargate Command winds up.

I've been wondering this myself, and have basically assumed the same thing as above. That Atlantis has been designated the SGC and Cheyenne Mountain has been shut down.

If the point was to answer the question in the Altantis movie, maybe it's best they don't get around to it on Universe until after the Atlantis movie is made.

As someone who only has cursory knowledge of the Stargate universe, I have no knowledge of these other elements, so I kind of care less about where the SGC is.

I bring that up, because SGU might be away for them to bring new people into the fold and not have the overall story of SGU be crushed by continuity questions.

'All' is a bit of a stretch by the end. The ships, in particular, were beginning to gain their own symbols and patch designs, and I think this trend is only to be expected as the Stargate program expands and results in more bases, more ships etc.

i didnt say i didn't like the show, im just dissappointed in the subject matter they are using. SGU seems more like a heavy-drama with scifi elements and not "Stargate UNIVERSE".. this is the farthest any human being has ever gone in the cosmos, in the oldest ancient tech we have ever found.. a massive vessel which will take a LONG time to explore with just 80 people...and what are spending episodes doing....watching highly trained and disciplined officers of the airforce take turns banging ones wife and chloe getting drunk at a club and giving Eli the "your a great friend" speech and Lt. Scott banging anything that has a vagina on the ship....sorry ranting....but we are nearly at the mid season of season 1 and i have not been WOWed yet like the producers said i would during their promotions during Comic Con and on Youtube.The show feels like every drama thats on TV now, like i said i'm a die-hard stargate fan since the 'showtime channel' days i will give the show all the chances in the world, but at this point im disappointed..

How much can they "wow" us, really? I just want a good show. The quality has been kind of up and down, but overall it just seems average.

Yes, I know that the Atlantis gate (well...ALL of Atlantis) is now on Earth, but why do you say the Pegasus gates supersede the MW ones, and why would the Atlantis gate automatically be the arrival point for anyone gating to Earth?

As for where the Stargate program now operates from, did anyone notice scenes in the Universe opener that you'd have expected to be at the SGC were apparently taking place elsewhere?

Didn't look like Atlantis, but something more Earthly. Almost like a bunch of offices separated by glass walls.

I'm wondering if the Cheyene gate and everything else just got moved to Washington.

The real reason of course is that the Cheyene gateroom set has been redressed, but we all know this is a hunt for an "in story" explanation anyway.

Yes, I know that the Atlantis gate (well...ALL of Atlantis) is now on Earth, but why do you say the Pegasus gates supersede the MW ones, and why would the Atlantis gate automatically be the arrival point for anyone gating to Earth?

In Enemy at the Gate, its established that Pegasus Gates override Milky Way Gates. The Wraith bring a Pegasus gate with them which supersedes the Eath gate at the SGC. When Atlantis lands on earth, its gate would also supersede the SGC gate.

As for where the Stargate program now operates from, did anyone notice scenes in the Universe opener that you'd have expected to be at the SGC were apparently taking place elsewhere?

Those scenes take place in the Pentagon at U.S. Homeworld Command, the SGC's direct superior. Also remember that because of they way they jerry-rigged the icurus gate, they probably wouldn't have had much contact with the SGC itself.
