Spoilers What happened to the Borg after Voyager Endgame?

Put a spoiler tag because of Picard spoilers ( if you want to move to Picard forum go ahead)

So, in 2378. Endgame happens, Future Janeway comes and infects the Borg with a pathogen.
Fast forward to 2402 (or so) and the borg are a shell of there former selves, with the queen cannibalizing what she can find to survive.
So, question is, what happened to the rest of the collective?
The Artifact in Picard S1 was severed from the collective in the 2380s, and there was a line where they haven't been seen in over a decade.

So, did the pathogen cause the queen to loose contact with the rest of the collective?
Left the collective but there was no Queen voice?

So asking, what happened to the rest of the Borg?? ( not the Jurati Borg, well they may save some of them) Did the ships just break down? Did they become free?

I'd rather the Destiny book version where they were made part of the Caeliar gestalt where they basically ascended. Right now, it makes it seem that literal Trillions of individuals just died out?

Since this thread is designated as having spoilers from PIC:
In 2401, a faction of the Borg allied with the Federation to stop a deliberately-directed energy wave that presumably threatened most of the Galaxy. Afterward, this faction--led by a more benevolent Queen (the assimilated Dr. Jurati)--was granted provisional membership in the Federation in order to safeguard against the mysterious threat that initially sent the energy wave. That threat remains unknown to this day.

Later, the deteriorating Queen from the shattered remains of the main Borg Collective (last seen in VOY's "Endgame") enlisted a rogue faction of Changelings from the Dominion to secretly undermine Starfleet in an attempt to procure Jack Crusher, the son of Jean-Luc Picard and Beverly Crusher. Jack was something of a Trojan Horse, born with hidden Borg DNA from Picard's time as Locutus. With Jack, the Borg developed a new sneaky way of large-scale assimilation and successfully took control of most of Starfleet during a fleet-wide celebration event at Earth's Spacedock. They nearly won, but were ultimately defeated once and for all by Picard, Jack, and the reunited crew of the Enterprise-D.

Basically a severance of the Collective on a galactic scale. Those ships not directly infected by the pathogen either shut down, or were stranded without a directive. We've seen crashed ships result in more individuality being expressed by drones. So, you might have chaos, infighting or other such struggles with disconnected ships.

To me, its just a big huge loose end, yes we found out what happened to the Queen and her local group if you'd call it that.
but there are literally Trillions, maybe quadrillions of borg in a huge swath of space, ships, entire planets, etc.
Did they survive? are they individuals? mini collectives? Jurati come along and save them?
Did the Delta Quad races see the collapse and rush in and get new technology, Slaves, maybe just genocide?

If Future Admiral Janeway caused the death of Trillions to save a few years of travel time and chackotay, then DAMN..

Why I liked the Destiny books, All borg were offered to "Ascend" where if you said no, you were returned to your organic body sans implants. Even the planets were changed to where there entire city's disappeared and helped the planets re green themselves.
Nice and clean, no genocide

There are certainly interesting moral questions to explore related to this...

They're no longer an immediate inevitable and existential threat to the galaxy. I hope we never see the Queen again.

Maybe they just become boogeymen in the later years, stories of ships and colonies disappearing etc but I never liked the idea of stuff like "Borg space".

Isn't it pretty logical to assume that there would be a higher concentration of Borg in certain places, nominally representing "Borg Space"? Or do you see them more as locusts just moving from place to place assimilating everything?

Well, I had my own theories, but Terry Matalas blew all of my ideas out of the water in his new show, so I really just do not know any more.

I guess that whatever happened to the Borg after Endgame is open game for any writer who wants to put their spin on to it should they be given the creative chance.

There are no rules any more, so *many* things may have happened to the Borg after Endgame, it’s been 20 years…

We saw what's become of other Borg ships in Prodigy:

Newly built Borg invasion cube is functionally hobbled by Janeway’s neurolytic pathogen shutting down key links in the Colective. The Borg on that ship were fully dormant. Possibly some tech or some species (like a Medusan) would be able to awaken a ship either deliberately or accidentally, but without a wider collective to connect to, the ship will have no mission or purpose. It may well just go dormant again after a while as a failsafe.

No doubt there are Borg cubes littered around Borg space in the Delta Quadrant, all like this.

Perhaps some local species will salvage them and become powerful and a new threat.

Perhaps wars will break out and much of it will be destroyed. Maybe a few cubes will wake up and get it together enough that they can start a new Collective, but it'll be centuries (or never) before they return to their previous level of power.

The surviving Borg after Endgame formed a hippy commune collective and now look like this AI art I just generated.

The NuBorg have even augmented themselves with assimilated flowers so that they can absorb the suns rays via photosynthesis to create energy. They are now a species of galactic ‘cultivators’ and ‘healers’ made up of many different past assimilated and willingly assimilated races, all interconnected in to a hive mind collective consciousness working like friendly honey bees. The NuBorg could even make honey using galactic nectar which they now collect, which is highly sort after by the rest of the galaxy as an aphrodisiac and herbal remedy for many ailments. They now fly around in assimilated orchids and respawned Gomtuu ‘Tinman’ ships.

The Picard writers destroyed the rest of the surviving original Collective in The Last Generation, so I guess that this is pretty much what we are probably left with now.
