Was the red hair Gates McFadden had in TNG natural, dyed or a wig?

You're correct, and I've read about it somewhere. Most of the time, it was obviously a wig. However, I just rewatched Future Imperfect, and her hair was pulled back. It appeared to be her real hair in that episode.

She actually did have gorgeous red hair, but they gave her a matching wig to make it easier on the hair and makeup department every day.

IIRC, she claimed in a TV interview, maybe during a TNG marathon, that she got to show her real hair only in the finale, the rest of the time it was a wig. Maybe I'm mistaken, or she'd forgotten about the odd other episode, grain of salt, etc.
