Spoilers WandaVision discussion thread

I do love how much fun they are having with "reality" (if only Peters had stuck around for Kick-Ass 2, then Wanda would have swapped her Kick-Ass brother for Ass-Kicker) and even poking fun at their own universe..."What happened to your accent?" "What happened to yours?"

Mind blown!

Don't make her angry. You wouldn't like her when she's angry.

I loved the metacommentary from Pietro about the expansion of Wanda's powers and now it looks like she's pushing them even further with her expanding the Hex's boundary to incapsulate almost the entirety of SWORD's operation and personnel. It does look pretty clear that Wanda is control of the situation but how long is she going to be able to keep even more people under her persuasion? I also wonder whether Vision will remember his experience trying to escape the Hex or if Wanda will wipe his short-term memory?

I also loved seeing the SWORD agents turned into circus clowns as the Hex expanded to include them, but I wonder what will happen to poor handcuffed Darcy. The episodes deliberately avoided showing her transformation. "Oh, fudge!"

I'm still not sure what's going on with Pietro. I theorized all over the place about he was after last episode and this episode hasn't made it any clearer. He clearly has some of the memories of the MCU's Pietro but he also recalled things that Wanda doesn't know anything about. He has the personality of the XMU's Pietro but Wanda saw decayed corpse of the MCU's Pietro. So perhaps he is the XMU's Pietro that she unconsciously pulled from that universe but then unconsciously grafted the MCU's Pietro's memories on top of his own?

I'm also still not sure about the Agnes question. Was she genuinely terrified when Vision removed the false personality from her or was she just playing on to keep Vision in the dark? Wanda's clearly in control of the Hex and not Agnes, but did Agnes have any involvement in bringing Wanda to Westview and causing the Hex to occur in the first place, which backfired on her and became a fellow prisoner?

Unsurprisingly, Hayward is up to absolutely no good. SWORD was clearly very interested in Vision's body before Wanda broke in and stole him back, but I wonder if Hayward's interests lie beyond just recovering Vision's body for weapons research.

The show has kicked the can for another episode to reveal who Monica's contact is so I can only assume that reveal is going to be a big one. I still don't think it'll be Carol (but that would be amazing) but whoever they are, it's clearly someone we already know and love.

Lots of pop cultural references to sift through. The Incredibles, The Parent Trap, Kick-Ass, and Malcolm in the Middle stand out the most, but I especially loved that one of the trick-or-treaters was wearing the costume from the Blind Melon album cover and "No Rain" music video. I'm certain there are others that I missed, such as the black-and-white film that was playing on the marquee. Does anyone know what movie that was?

I was surprised that they would make that kind of a meta-joke to an entirely different franchise when they refrained on making a similar style of Sherlock Holmes joke when they had RDJ and Benedict Cumberbatch working together.
I'm still bummed we didn't get even a small reference to Holmes when they shared scenes. I guess the Russos didn't want to cram in too much since so much was going on already.

Well, at least we still have Monica and Jimmy on the outside to save the day. I read some convincing theories that this so far unnamed aerospace engineer that Monica is convinced get her back inside the anomaly is Reed Richards. Wouldn't it be something if they cast Reed Richards and totally kept it a secret and revealed him on WandaVision?
Oh, wow, now that is a curious theory. I think it's unlikely that'll be the case (even Evan Peters wasn't kept completely quiet) but who knows? It would definitely be a very cool reveal

That said, I still think it's more likely it's someone we already know.

The only established MCU character I can think of that fits the description of "aerospace engineer" is Fitz, which while it would be awesome, I honestly think Reed Richards is far more likely than AoS getting let back into the movie continuity.

Would it be a powered Reed Richards, though?
Or pre-Mr Fantastic like Barry Allen‘s first appearance in Arrow where he showed up as purely a forensic investigator?

That was epic. This series is going by far too quickly for my liking. :D

It seems a little clearer that Wanda is controlling at least some of the happening in the town. Seeing her expand the wall was chilling. It will be interesting to see what Darcy and the others will be like in their altered state.

Vision trying to force his way out of the false reality and find out what's really going on was heartbreaking.

It was also pretty chilling to see how all the people on the outer edge are stuck as backdrop props barely if at all moving... and being aware!!!
And then Pietro stating how ethical Wanda handles it, all things considered!

I have no idea where this show is going. I love that.
I got goosebumps when Wanda and Pietro talked about their parents. What if... what if...Magneto.
Quicksilver is an interesting mystery, his display of powers is the same as the MCU version, as are his memories but his personality is the X-Men version and Wanda doesn't seem to have much attachment to him, doesn't really relate to him in the way she would her previous brother.

I get the feeling they'll need to bring Doctor Strange or someone in to handle this situation as it's got out of control.

It would be awesome if Richards would appear but that would mean they cast someone whom they will "use" properly only a few years down the line when it's time for the MCU FF4 movie - even with Marvels famous long game planning i think it's too much of a needless risk to introduce him now but it would be cool as hell, i'll admit it ( personally i could see Brie Larson taking up the mantle of Captain Marvel again for a big cameo).

At this point one can only hope Wanda truly went insane over her grief seeing how she's basically torturing an entire small town, otherwise the consequences of her actions would be extreme. It's also clear that she's stretching the limits of her powers and losing control gradually. Now that she had to expand her influence to safe Vision the deterioration might accelerate and it could all come crashing down soon - what do you think will happen once she loses control in the middle of a town she basically tortured (and they all remember)?

Pietro is a wild card - he seems to know what Wanda is doing exactly but how and why? Putting aside the obvious this is a new question that's been raised with this episode which is just another question in a long line of questions at the moment.

The Sword rebels are also interesting and open a whole new line of questions and i wonder what will happen to Darcy because the way she got sucked in seems to be different to the other non-named Sword people who just turned into new extras in Wanda's show.

Questions upon questions and no answers - sometimes these are the best shows when those questions are answered in a good way, other times it all comes crashing down. We will know soon enough if this high concept for a Marvel show can deliver.

So it looks like this is most likely MCU Pietro with a new face, and Evan Peters' casting was just an in joke. But, the way he was questioning Wanda did seem a bit suspicious, so I'm leaning towards him being Mephisto at the moment. He also called the boys "demon spawn", which seems like an innocent like joke, until you consider their comic book history.
For anyone who isn't aware, in the comics Wanda accidently stole parts of Mepthisto's soul or energy or something in order to make them, and he eventually reabsorbed them. They were then eventually reborn with new parents, and became the Young Avengers Speed and Wiccan.
It was nice to see the boys finally get their powers from the comics.
This episode definitely removed any questions about whether or not Hayward is a bad guy. He is definitely a bad guy.
All of the frozen people on the edges of the town was really creepy.
I'm not sure what Vision waking up Agnes the way he did means for her, since before this she seemed to be fully aware of what's going on.
Vision disintegrating when he tried to leave Westview was kinda creepy, and opens up some big questions about what his fate will be when all of this is resolved.
I wonder what role Darcy will end up playing in the sitcom world.
I'm very curious to see who Monica's contact will be, because the way they are keeping references to them vague, they've got to be someone important. I like the idea of it being Reed Richards, but it does seem awfully early to introduce him. If it is Richards, I could see them not actually showing his face, so they don't have to worry about casting someone so long before the first Fantastic Four movie is probably going to come out.

I think people are forgetting that Brie Larson was announced as Captain Marvel well over two years before her movie came out, and at least a year before she started filming. Mahershala Ali was announced as Blade over a year ago and we don't even have a release date for that one yet. It is totally conceivable, especially for Marvel, to plan this far in advance.

And, sure, the news of Evan Peters leaked. But you want to know what news didn't leak from Disney plus? Baby Yoda and...

Luke Skywalker.

So, if Marvel has already found its Reed Richards, and wants to surprise the fans with an early reveal, I think it's something that they could easily pull off and have fun doing it.

Shit is getting real in Ep 6! While not as epic as Episode 5, stakes are definitely getting bigger. If Wanda didn't know before how to save Vision, she does now. All she has to do is expand the Hex to encompass the whole world and Vision will be "alive" anywhere he goes. Now it's just a question if Wanda is powerful enough to actually do that. Considering her powers are growing exponentially, who's to say she can't do it.
Oh and I second #SaveDarcy
Oh and new avatar for me: #Kick-Ass
I mean, how meta is this...

Well that was very interesting. So much happening this episode. Wanda and Pietro talking about what is going on, and Pietro seeing through the facade and even remembering his death.
Billy and Tommy developing their super (mutant?) powers.
Vision trying to leave the "hex" and almost disintegrating.
And Wanda swallowing the SWORD camp.

Looks liek the last three episodes will be the endgame (as they said, three act structure). All we need to see now is what the effects and consequences of this whole thing will be.

More recently, maybe 5 years ago-ish, the siblings were retconned as Inhumans to match step with the MCU... Which is not even what they were in the MCU.

But that was just part of the pissing contest between Disney/Marvel and Fox at the time. Just like cancelling the Fantastic Four comic, trying to make the Inhumans take the place of the X-Men (despite nobody liking the Inhumans, ever) and so forth.
Of course Wanda and Pietro being Magneto's kids itself was a retcon of a retcon. Initially they were just supposed to be a pair of kids from the Balkans, then they were retconned into the children of some golden age super heroes (the Whizzer and Miss America) and then into Magneto's kids because both Magneto and Pietro have white hair. The version with them being Magneto's kids was their most long-lived backstory, but not the original one.

Oh, Agnes was playing the hell out of Vision (and us) in that scene. She's now got Vision fully convinced Wanda's the real villain, and actually nudged him to walk out of town/the Hex (hence Wanda's drastically raised her 'Yo-Magic' power output). It's not for nothing that she's been upped to full co-star in the 'opening credits.'

Very Americentric question "What happened to your accent?".

It should have been “Where did you get that stupid accent from?"
No, they are speaking English.
As long as they are, asking the question of where their Sokovian accents went is valid.
If they speak Sokovian with an English accent at some point, your question will be right.

This reminds me of one boy I once knew years ago, during my second student teaching placement. The little guy said he had no culture

:guffaw:
