Vidiians Know Every Species?

Farscape One

While I was in the shower, something occured to me.

In "DEADLOCK", when the Vidiians board and start killing the crew, Tuvok is shot down and a Vidiian analzes him.

"Vulcan. Male."

How did he know Tuvok was a Vulcan? The only people the Vidiians ever previously captured from the crew are Torres, Paris, and Durst... a half Klingon and a pair of humans. They never encountered a Vulcan before.

Or did a Vulcan ship get thrown into the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker before and were all massacred and harvested by the Vidiians?

Thoughts?

I seem to recall that it was said that the ship that was commanded by Geordi LaForge's mother (and vanished during a season seven episode of TNG) had several Vulcan's on board. And since it's always been my head canon that her ship was one of the earlier Caretaker abduction...

In Phage, the two Vidiians that came aboard saw Tuvok and scanned him (for compatibility with Neelix). I don't think they just threw those scan results away after they left, they'd probably uploaded their scans onto their version of HarvestersEnthusiasts.com .

In Faces, they captured the away team. I wouldn't be surprised if tricorders contain a database of their own, for reference and comparison, and these surely were confiscated and probed by the Vidiians.

In Lifesigns, Denara Pel spent days aboard Voyager.

So that's already three opportunities they could have learned about Vulcans.

But knowing the NAME of his species... I think of the listed opportunities, Denara learning about Vulcans is the one that makes most sense.

Maybe when he was scanned in "PHAGE", but I doubt they would given that information given tge circumstances.

I don't think they speak English at all, just their own language, and the Universal Translator (UT) translates it into our language for our benefit. In their own language, of course they are free to coin any name they want for a newly-met species. Likewise I doubt that Vulcans call themselves Vulcan when speaking their own language(s), and so that Vulcan probably isn't their real name, just the Federation Standard name.

So the real miracle would be how the UT would know this new word. Then again, dozens of threads have wondered about how the UT is capable of translating an alien language it never heard before instantaneously in so many cases...

Maybe on one of the previous encounters they successfully hacked Voyager's computer and got basic biological data of all Federation races, or at least those represented on the Voyager crew.

Vulcan's have been in space for millennia. Some probably fell though a wormhole centuries ago and live on a dumpy delta quadrant planet Voyager missed.

Didn't they set a trap for B'elanna in "Faces"? They were uber interested in her Klingon body. I know they were sort of hunting Voyager for a while, so they must have gotten biological data on the crew early on.

I'm guessing that the first encounter in "Phage" they took biological readings on as many of the crewmembers as walked near them to add to their HarvestorsEnthusiasts page. They were there for at least a little bit, because they conducted Kes's surgery, which happened off screen. Tuvok was probably standing over them the entire time.

I would have thought that the Vidians analysed the minds of Neelix and Torres when they captured them and discovered all about the different aliens on board the voyager and those in the Federation from that to be honest!
