Hi guys,

I like to interest about Vaadwaur information and what's your comment about Vaadwaur?

Does anyone have a picture like concept arts of Vaadwaur? I like to see what is like on arts for Vaadwaur.

Thank you, guys

Martyn

The Vaadwaur were the best LOOKING aliens on Voyager,

http://images.wikia.com/memoryalpha/en/images/c/c1/Gedrin.jpg

and potentially some of the scariest given their access to the subspace corridors. I think they were hampered by the fact that overall they were a 1000 years out of date and refugees in the current timeline. Otherwise they might have been an entertaining villiam for more than 1 episode.

(I don't count seeing one in the crowd at the Tsunkatse match as a recurring appearence. ;) )

Its annoying the writers were too lazy to sketch out some sort of arc with them.

Wasn't that episode supposed to be a two parter?

I suppose it's another one of those things where Voyager really dropped the ball in the last two seasons. :(

I also liked the Vaadwaur. It was a brilliant opportunity to find out more about the Borg and life in the Quadrant 1000 years prior. An opportunity that was, as noted above, completely wasted. The subspace corridor was a nice touch, as well.

I never expected to see them again in Voyager but rather the next series going forward after it. The Vadwaar were too behind as far as technology and awareness. It would take time for them to catch up The problem was they made the Vadwaar like the Kazon, people who would have to steal technology they didn't understand.

"I suspect it won't be the last we see of them!"

"Er, why would you say that? We're going to be travelling away from them, constantly."

"Shut up, Chuckles!"

I think there was some thought to making them a recurring villain, but they dropped it for some reason. The Vaadwaur might have been behind the times, but I seriously doubt they would have remained that way for long. They had a lot of potential to be a pain in Voyager's behind for some time with the subspace corridors. I would have rather seen some more of them than the Borg.

Their appearance didn't work for me. This human face surrounded by a mess of stuff that seems to highlight the limits of what they can do with the budget/limitations of prosthetics, rather the opposite. I'm sure they put a lot of work into it, but the end result looked awkward

I agree

But then, it would have also been nice to see more of the Krenim, the Ocampa or the Caretakers. Voyager just opened and closed too many ideas too soon instead of running with them for a while. By the time the Vaadwaur came along, they were just another above average touch and go story.

They had the ability travel all the way to Talaxia in a short time

But whenever they DID keep any aliens around for more than one episode, they got complaints. And no, the answer is not "because they were bad aliens/stories" it was just that they stuck around for more than one episode.

People like the Vidiians and the Hirogen. People didn't like the Kazon and because they were lame. The Kazon just looked dumb and were 2nd rate Klingons, and the Malon were...garbage men...there really wasn't much of an arc there. I don't think people were that bothered by them.

I enjoyed the Hirogen as well. They had a nice mini-arc in the fourth season, and managed to find a reason to bring them back once more in "Tsunkatse." Their re-appearance in "Flesh and Blood" stretched credibility, though.

I liked the concept that Flesh and Blood re-introduced of the holgrams fighting the Hirogen, but not the execution. If if I were a writer I would not have gone the direction they did with the story. The Holograms should NOT have been self-aware, and frankly the stories dealing with The Doctor's humanity were very weak to me.

The Hirogen killing holgrams as replacements for real people, however, was a very good plot device. The writers just buggered that up like they do most things on Voyager.

I don't hear many complaints about that. The aliens that did become recurring ones were in the great minority anyway. The Hirogen episodes get a lot of praise with the one exception of Flesh and Blood (which I did like) because of how awkward it feels in season 7, and the Kazon arc was my favorite part of the series. (Granted the Kazon themselves were not the greatest aliens ever, but their storyline made up for it.) Really, the only two species that got to be majorly recurring were the Kazon and the Borg.

The Borg were also good until around when they brought in the Queen, at which point they had already started to feel stale because nothing was really happening with the story. The problem was that they ended up scrapping Species 8472, the chance to have Voyager hang around in actual Borg space for more than an episode, and even Unimatrix Zero.

The general complaint is that if they had kept some of the better ideas they introduced around for more than a single episode, before ultimately forgetting them, it would have been more interesting.

Please stop generalizing about how much you think everybody has it in for Voyager.
