USS Luna - Loknar Class Frigate

Commander

This was my first-place prize in a contest I won over on AST. The 1/1000 scale USS Phobos from Multi-Verse Models, a Loknar class mark V frigate, built as the USS Luna. I was given three models to pick from for my win but when I saw images of the Phobos on the net my decision was easy. I was immediately impressed with the sleek elegance of this design.
Once I received the kit the wisdom of my choice was confirmed.
I haven't built a lot of resin models but I know quality when I see it and this a great kit, no bubbles, very little flash, and incredible surface detail.
The resin is very durable too; I must've dropped the nacelles on my concrete garage floor three or four times with no observable damage occurring.
Highly recommended!

I gave her a semi-gloss finish after some light weathering. I usually like my ships to appear as though they've spent years in service to the fleet.

Nice build, Sir!:cool::cool::cool::cool:

The Phobos class is a VERY nice update of the FASA classic Loknar design. It's a pity the old 1/3900 scale FASA miniature is a pain in the a** to keep together, but the nacelle struts are too small at top in that scale to pin the nacelles onto!

But like I said, that is an awesome build of your kit.:cool::cool::cool:

More pics, please.

Amazing. I wish I could finish mine this nice!

is the Aztec paneling decals, or paint?

-Ricky

Those are aztec decals from the 1/1000 Round 2 Enterprise Refit kit. Oriinally I had purchased the Acreation refit aztec decals from Federation Models but when they arrived I was surprised to see they were almost pink which was a surprise as they were listed as being on-screen grey! I later discovered others had gotten pink decals so this seems to be an ongoing problem with Acreation's decals. Fed Models was kind enough to refund me my 20 bucks afterwhich I went out and bought the refit model kit from my LHS which included the aztec decals. The model cost 24 bucks so I was only out another 4 dollars and got a refit model kit to boot. Fed Models said I could keep the Acreation decals if I wanted so I plan on using them on a future kitbash; the Takei class USS OMAI which will have pink aztecs.

I'd love to see some large size pics. It seems resin is getting better detail-wise and you certainly did an amazing job building & painting.

Took over 100 pics today. Haven't had time to upload all of them to Flickr! yet but here are a few I thought you guys might like:

Ar-Pharazon,

I'll be uploading a lot of hi-res images to imgur tomorrow. They are 4752 x 3168 so plenty large and I took a lot of detail pics too.

That is the version from "Of Gods and Men" fan film. The pod does fix were the larger torpedoes were put after the old Loknars got refits. The older versions had tiny torpedoes mounted like the old Constitutions.

Cool. :)

The USS OMAI, that's great. :)

Correct. The Luna was originally constructed in 2275 as a Mark IV Loknar class frigate but was refitted to Mark V specs in 2278. I am assuming the addition of the ventral photorp launcher was part of the upgrades based on what I am reading here.

Looks cool. I use the Loknar for my fanfics so it's cool to actually see it in living color.
