Purpose within Starfleet:
The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-G) was a Mercedes-class starship commissioned in 2501 and was the eighth Starfleet ship to bear the name Enterprise, until her disappearance in 2504. A starship designed to carry Federation influence throughout the Alpha Quadrant and beyond, Enterprise-G was a multi-role starship design. Able to function as a deep-space explorer with extensive sensors and laboratory facilities for scientific research, the 1701-G was also outfitted as a heavy cruiser armed with some of the latest in Starfleet weapons technology for deployment in hostile areas.

The ship was equipped with an advanced Slipstream Generator and onboard computer that allowed the ship to last for longer periods in transit, without phase variances destabilising the Slipstream tunnel. A Class 14 warp drive was available for 'conventional' FTL travel and a hyper impulse drive for sublight operation. The Class 14 warp drive was equipped with a standard quantum sublimating theta-matrix compositor, allowing the ship to go for much longer distances at high warp velocities before needing to replace it's dilithium crystals.

Defensive systems of this starship were based on significant advances in Federation technology of the time. The starship featured an ablative Diburnium alloy hull, which allowed it to withstand greater amounts of phaser fire than any previous design, and regenerative shields that adapted to enemy weapons fire during a battle.

The ship also carried a full suite of offensive weapons, including a Heavy Beam Isokinetic Particle Cannon which although limited in it's direction of fire, had proven highly effective in penetrating ships with Monotanium hull armor. Note: Due to this ship's recent appearance in this timeline, the complete weapons configuration of the Enterprise-G is classified.

NOTE: This is a ship designed to appear briefly for a single 'episode' or mission, before being destroyed or sent back to it's own time. A kind of reverse "Yesterday's Enterprise" scenario...more like a "Tomorrow's Enterprise" if you will. :bolian:

Off topic: Your Doctor Who stuff is so cool! I'd love to see an all out animated tale based on your concepts. Great stuff. :techman:

While the drawings look good, I do see RoJoHen's point. It looks like the saucer would snap off the secondary hull any minute.

I've also got a problem with it because I don't personally don't think the saucer and secondary hull match. The saucer is too round, while the secondary hull is very rough and angular. They look like they are part of two different ships.

^ I don't think the different shapes are the issue. It's the placement of the nacelles. The ship would look more balanced (and more post-TNG-era) if the nacelles sat on those wings further forward. The wings don't necessarily have to change, but the nacelles loom like they are too far back.
