UFO sightings

My girlfriend and I seen a couple of UFO's the other night (12/12/2022), they disappeared after a minute and we didn't take any pictures but I made an animated gif representation of them while I remembered what I seen. The strange thing about the big one is that it was a clear night yet it was surrounded by fog. My personal speculation is that what I saw was 2 experimental stealth aircraft. Or maybe it was extra terrestrials observing us? Has anyone else seen anything like this? I invite any other speculation anyone may have.

Never seen a UFO but I did kind of have encounter with a ghost when I was in high school.

They're certainly not proof. Even in the incredibly unlikely scenario where it actually is a UFO, seeing a light in the sky doesn't prove it.

A civilization knows how to beat time dilation and the light barrier but can't stop from being seen by random humans.

What time of day was this? Around sunrise/set?

Decades ago I remember seeing something similar, very high up, moving fast, vanished (no red flash). Turns out it was sunlight reflecting off a satellite, and easy to see because we were in Earth's shadow while it was in full daylight.

Sometimes the answers are the simplest.

It was probbly around 9:30pm around an hour after the sun had set, I had stepped outside for a minute to see the stars because it was a clear night. It was about the altitude that helicopters fly over but it was silent. It was too close to be a satellite, the weather balloon explanation seems more likely. Oh and did I mention it was flying over a field of cattle?

I have some relations that live in Roswell, NM and I still am waiting for them to tell me they saw something UFO like in the sky or a crash site, besides the museum they have and the really cool McDonald's with the spaceship on the sign and the inside is neat too, I hear. Hope to visit them some day.

Quick tale to tell, on the day a space shuttle was to land in Ca. for the last time I was there, attempting to spot a view of it when I noticed what I can only describe as being like a large clear sphere, (It may have been a face on disk) inside the reported flight path of the shuttle.

I stood watching it for quite a few beats, blinking and looking away then finding it again, it was real. As I was trying to discern what the hell I was seeing I was startled by a sonic boom. Not caring about the shuttle anymore I tried to re-establish eye contact with the UAP again but it had bolted at the boom.

I once had an argument with a guy who absolutely insisted that UFOs absolutely do not exist. I replied that they're categorically proven to exist. He, of course, refused to believe it We went 'round and 'round for a good ten minutes before I explained that any time you've got a flying object that can't be identified, it's a UFO by definition (and by name). He blinked, then stammered, "But those aren't aliens!" To which I replied, "You never said anything about aliens. You were specifically referring to UFOs. Not the same thing." He gave up.

Watch your assumptions.

Yeah, it kind of bugs me how people just assume because you're calling something a UFO you're saying it's aliens, when that's not the case at all. All you're saying is it was something that was flying and you didn't know what it was.

Good to open up with Sagan - Sagan points out that just by the rate of abductions reported by the 90s alone, and UFO sightings that people colloquially do say are Aliens, we should have a hell of a lot more proof.

But we don't. There are a few cases where yes, you have something physical left behind on the ground, burn marks and impressions, you have radar+visual contact, but no one can say they've gotten an actual UFO hull somewhere. In the seventy years since Roswell, no one has come out who could be verified as saying, 'we got a UFO, we caught aliens'. But we have gotten snippets of Project Mogul, the U2, the Blackbird, Geminex, Satellites, Drones, Missiles.

Most of the UAP stuff of late has been whittled down to balloons, other aircraft, misidentification and blown up claims (like something 'going' Mach 40).

I'm going skeptic here, I guess. Not full on Metabunk level, not, 'oh you saw a planet in the middle of nowhere', hell I would love it if it were little gray aliens in flying saucers landing in crop fields (note - not the crop circle scam), but it does not seem to line up in the end. Nearly every UFO has a very grounded (and American, it seems) explanation hiding behind it. What we're better off doing is increasing our detection capability, our catalogue of phenomena, transparency with the government, and keep educating everyone on the basics and corpus of science.
