Edit: I'd say I was shocked by the number of people on Twitter who think they're surprise releasing an episode tomorrow but that would be a lie.

Really? I’m the first to admit that I’m excitable at things like this but it never even crossed my mind that they’d drop an episode on Christmas Day, probably the most hyped and promoted day in the BBC schedule, at less than 24 hours notice
Being charitable I think people are so used to streaming stuff that they've forgotten that TV schedules still do exist.
It's not impossible that there could be a 'Night of the Doctor' style mini-episode released online but we're still almost 11 months away, so I'm not getting hopes up for anything other than a trailer.
While I agree it's most likely just a trailer (in itself, not surprising), but is it so bad for people to have a little bit of Christmas hope? What's the harm in that?
One of many ways I know I'm getting old and curmudgeonly: the very idea of making announcements to get people excited about trailers annoys me. Just show the damn trailer. It's an ad to tell people hey, there's going to be another ad.

I'm with you on that one. Drives me nuts. Also how movie trailers on YouTube have a teaser at the beginning of the trailer.
Eh, if it is a trailer, so what? The actual specials are still eleven months away.
It'll probably be a trailer, but I live in hope of a minisode.

That's what I've been assuming this whole time, partially because it makes sense and partially because that's what Davies did before.
While we probably aren't getting even a minisode, Emily Cook has organized another tweetalong, this time for "The Christmas Invasion," starting at 7pm GMT.
Either my hearing is going or it is hard to make out what he is saying?
"Worldwide Premiere" . I had to turn on subtitles to make it out which is why I'm hoping he's not sticking to that accent constantly...
BTW confirmed to air on BBC One 6.25 this evening, so yeah, just a trailer.

Just enough time to enjoy and overanalyze the trailer and then roll right into the tweetalong.
That would be something to warrant some excitement. I'm still not holding my breath, though. But I'll gladly dine on crow if I'm wrong.
Both Davies’ own statements and BBC announcements have said all three specials will air in November. You can hold on to a reed of hope that they’re fibbing (which the BBC really isn’t supposed to do), of course.
Oh, that's a fair point. I had honestly forgotten they explicitly stated that.
