Tron: Ares

I love the OG Tron for what it was. While the FX don't hold up, I think that only adds to the charm.

I loved Legacy and its far superior sound track (IMHO, of course). I still love driving to it. My only disappointment was that there was no direct sequel to it.

I await Ares with cautious anticipation. Jared Ledo's track record in film is suspect at best, but I'll keep an open mind.

Actually the FX for the original tron does hold up. Remember it was the in the world of a 1980s computer and it looks exactly like it should have in the 1980s.

Looks amazing, music sounds great. I'm just worried about the Leto of it, but I'm still eager to see the movie. I'm curious as to who Jeff Bridges is actually playing.
He seems to be wearing a costume that looks like the one from the original film with same chest pattern, just in a purple light instead of blue. He's also in a set that looks identical to the tank from the scene with Clu in the original film.

I get the feeling we're going to see the original grid, especially since Leto's character might be an updated MCP.

Leto is a great actor but is one of the people who mostly chooses shit scripts and movies.

Love the trailer, love that they kept the artstyle of Legacy and love that somehow the digital world has crossed into the actual world and is on a collision course. I hope the story stands up and that NIN can produce an iconic soundtrack just as Daft Punk did.

I’m hoping they’re doing the ol’ “switcheroo” here and he’s lying about not being in it. A Tron movie needs Tron!
I know there were some reshoots done, there was some speculation that Sam Flynn and Quorra might have been added to set up a sequel to both Ares and Legacy.

He's fine in very small doses but I tend to find his performances to be one of the worst parts of a film. They only really work if he's the weirdest element of that world and other characters are clearly put off by him.

The trailer felt very "old school", meaning not giving much away but whetting the appitite. I haven't followed much news on this but is Bridges and the lead character from Legacy back? Interesting to see the digital world and the real world on a collision course and the style of it looked really great.
