TrekBBS Fantasy Baseball League!

Any chance we can make the AL league draft time a little later? Right now, it'll be at the end of my work day, and I'll have to take time off to get home. Always love participating.

it was a temp time to set up, so no set draft time yet

ESPN's keeper site is still down. I know I kept a lot of pitchers, but I'm kind of curious as to who I didn't keep (it's been a while). Sure wish the baseball keeper league was set up like football: In baseball, I actually managed to snag the "Queen of the Losers" title, but that doesn't get me the first round pick here. Oh, well..

Anyway, this will serve as a bump in case there's others that still want to sign up for the Trek Yahoo leagues.

the baseball keeper league got screwed up a bit because people quit on the playoffs if they weren't in the winner's bracket. I'm not 100% sure this was the final result, but I thought what we were doing was keeping regular-season standings for the bottom half of the league, and re-ordering by playoff results for the winner's bracket. Makes the most sense to me, at least, and avoids the whole intentional tanking issue towards the end of the year....

1st pick is going to be diluted anyway, because of all the keepers. It's essentially a 7th round pick. And you might not even go first, if someone else keeps less players than you...

true, which is why I said that the draft number (#1 vs #2) isn't as big a deal. Not like A-Rod or Pujols is sitting there waiting for your. In any event, I don't think you had to have your final word in on keepers yet, so maybe re-evaluating your players would be a good idea? If you only kept two out of about 18 players, there's a problem somewhere. Either standards too high, or you had a TERRIBLE draft, and then didn't get any FA improvements during the season. Should at least have a couple rookies that you're up in the air about...

Anyway, I'm in a situation where I have probably 8-10 legitimate keepers, so will offer the same thing I was talking to Donkey about: If you see people you want on my team, we can talk about doing a trade, one of your keepers for two of mine. (as long as it upgrades one of my 6 keeper spots, and you aren't asking for A-Rod or something :p An obvious example would be something like my #5 and #7 guys for someone who would be a #4 for me...)

Will be able to figure it all out more once ESPN lets us back into the league so we can see our teams, but I definitely think I've got enough good extra parts for one solid trade here before we get into redrafting the teams. Plus, a few of my guys failed me in the championship against MrCoaster, so I'm shaking the roster up a bit. :)

Well, remember I inherited the team last season and did the best I could with it (and made a bad trade). I'm not that impressed with my team at ESPN. My Yahoo team on the other hand...alas.

But I'll keep your offer in mind when ESPN comes back.

I'm also the proud but not so happy owner of an inherited ESPN team...

And I got an email inviting me back to the AL in Yahoo! Made me feel so wanted that I joined.

Scout- still waiting on stupid ESPN.

^yeah, i tried logging in this morning and saw that not only did it not work, but they took down the announcement saying the date it would be up :p

There has been no final decision on the ESPN draft, hopefully we can firm that up in the next few days.

Also I think I had to re-activate the league, so doing that right now.

I am also very open to trade possibilities nearly every player is open to the right deal except possibly Erik Beddard. Yes, that means I am open to trading Pujols for the right deal.

Also espn is offically back open.

Ah, I thought that what I was describing was how it was left, but didn't remember completely. Either way, that would be my vote, at least. It eliminates intentional tanking from the bottom 6, provides NO incentive for the #6 team to try and slip down to #7 and play for the first overall pick, and rearranges the 6 from the winner's bracket into how well they performed in the playoffs.

At least, makes sense to me, and seems to solve that problem about teams quitting at the end of the year, or not playing the consolation rounds, etc.

Donkey, ESPN league is open, so let's take this to PM and see what we can work out. Looking over my roster and yours, think there could definitely be a match there, could end up being a bold trade, but I think we've got the right parts to match up to each other and help out both teams.

Shoot me a PM with who you are thinking of as keepers, who you might want to move, and what you had in mind. Will do the same.

Oh, and EMH? Looked over your roster, and ouch. You've got some serious work to do. On the plus side, dumping most of them and redrafting ought to instantly improve the roster... :)

I just tried accessing the ESPN site to check on my team but I'm still seeing that message that they're not ready yet...
What gives ESPN??

dunno, it worked for me late last night, and then this morning, thought it was good to go. Getting pumped up for the start of the season, even sent my first pre-season keeper trade proposal, so I'm wheeling and dealing already, and teams aren't even finished :)

Also, I've decided that I wish the ESPN keeper league was a dynasty leauge instead of just a keeper league. If I was given the option, I would probably keep all but 3 of my players. More I think about it, the more confused and angry I get that my players choked in the finals and i didn't win the title last year.

And Sportzkid, if Pujols is possibly available, we need to talk. I might be able to work out a package for him, so let me know what you think it might take. I can't see your roster from work, but I have mine printed out, so at least know what kind of stuff I can talk about on my side. We can talk specifics, but I should be able to definitely come up with some sort of pitcher+slugger offer that could work...
