Torchwood Radio has begun.

Guy Gardener

Fleet Admiral

They should have called this instalment "The Rise of Andy". :)

Nice.

Little lost girl.

They need more staff. Jacks probably getting all the monies previously set aside for all 5 Torchwoods, which needed hundreds, if not thousands of agents and support staff to maintain, and he's redacted that workforce down to three, including himself.

There are billions there that he is not using, or scarily, that he is using.

Three episodes in rapid succession over the next few days.

Are these episodes just the loose scripts free-floating left over after the episode commitment was halved this year?

just listened to this, dont recall them ever actually retconing Andy in the end, I guess they did, if he is going to find out for real that is going to be part of Children of the Earth.

moving on, im glad I already had a visual image of the cast & the sets, im not used to radio drama.

One thing I wonder is when Jack & Ianto escaped the traffic jam on the motorbike, I hope they remembered to lock the 4x4 given all the computer and alien secrets it contains.

all said despite the fact not much really seemed to happen, I enjoyed hearing more from Andy (as already mentioned by the OP) and I didnt really clock watch all that much which is surprising given the lack of visual.

The second one was much better, although, one of the things I wish was carried over from the first big reveal episodes in Doctor Who was that they were all working towards rebuilding the Brtish Empire.

I suppose Jack is viewing all from a different perspective than Fiona.

But this one was damn good. :)

Torchwood London was working to keep Britain great, not so much about the empire, Dutchess was working to turn back time to the empire.

Agreed this was the better episode of the two however.

having now heard all 3, I got to say there is something about Torchwood Audio that the TV series is lacking, I cant put my finger on it, but it seems to work better on radio.

I may even get Pest Control at the weekend.

Would be nice if David Tennant had recorded a few of these for Doctor Who, they can cast ANYONE as the companion so that is not a problem.

For those of you in UK (or with ways around it), you can actually download this week's three plays to hard drive or mp3 player here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/torchwood/download/

You'll notice that's a proper legal BBC site too, all official and everything.

It's funny, I'm in the US and it let me download the first two on to my itunes but not the third. Odd.

At least it let me listen to the third on the BBC iPlayer. :techman:

Same here in Ireland - I was able to download the first 2 episodes as MP3s from the BBC web site, but for some reason I can't download the third epsiode. Fortunately, I have a friend living in the U.K. who can get it for me. :)

The pirated version of the free version, which makes the pirated vesion almost legal, just for convinces sake, is only 20 megs. Takes about 4 minutes to download with broad band. :)

"sigh"

I just started listening to the third.

Lo it take 30 years and change, Big Finish is going to get hold of Davey.

You've delved into the mirk of the Big Finish yet Wamdue?

ill wait for the new series stuff, the Classic series does not mean that much to me, not enough to go spending money on CDs of random Doctors ive never seen on TV.

I am thinking about getting Pest Control

I listened to all three plays in a row today, and the second play was definitely the more likeable one of the three.

I thought the middle one was the least good of the three. I much preferred the last one in terms of characterisation and pacing, and the first one because of the plot and PC Andy. The middle one just seemed a bit meh, but maybe that's because I was hoping to hear more about Torchwood India. Another place where time has stood still, just seemed a bit like an old science fiction cliché.

I the first one was good, the second one better and the thrid one even better.

Its funny I was enjoy Torchwood more when its not on Torchwood, when its Doctor Who, that was good, when is on audio that was good, the Torchwood TV series seems to be missing something.

I had a similar experience to others in the USA. I could download the first two fine, but the third seems to be limited to the UK. Any one have a guess why the 3rd was locked down more?

Pest Control is good.[/QUOTE I might get it from amazon, its half the price of the one in my local WHSmith

Finally listened to all of these.

Nowhere near as good as the mini that's on just now but entertaining to listen on the bus into work.

The second one was my favourite, I thought the first one was the worst.

The India story would have worked very well as a Sapphire and Steel adventure.
