Top Ten Things You'll Never See In Trek Novels

Tuvok it seems will suffer the same fate on Titan as he did on VOY unless he is given special attention. The writers will tell you that Titan stories will focus on some crewmen and not others at different times ,but given the sparseness of upcoming releases, some characters will obviously fall by the wayside.Ironically, the large, diverse cast-list may be detrimental to the characters.

^ I know Forrest appeared in the 22nd-century prologue to A Time to Sow by Mssrs. Ward and Dilmore (who were able to present a copy to Vaughn Armstrong at TrekExpo).

Goosnargh.

You should probably take something for that...

I have no clue what the hell you are talking about. Tuvok played important roles in all three Titan novels so far -- he was the first character we met in Taking Wing, his past conflict with Akaar played an important role in The Red King, and he was a major player in Orion's Hounds.

Hmmm... ever been a Star Trek novel without chapters (qualifying anthologies as being 'chaptered' by individual stories)?
Not to my knowledge. The Future Begins doesn't have chapters per se, just two long sections, plus various and sundry prologues and epilogues and such, but it's a novella.

Actually, you're right. Tuvok, although very much a part of the story of SoD, does considerably less in my book than in any of the other three. If you enjoy Tuvok, the TITAN series is for you as he is, at LEAST, a player in every book and a major one in at least two.

I don't want to get hung up on Tuvok.
I have never seen him stretched as a character though,in the same way as Spock was.I know they're different people etc. but somehow I feel that much of Tuvok's schtick was stolen by Seven during VOY.and the character has never been given a chance to shine.
As for Titan,I too often find myself asking "who is who again?".My fault? Or the paucity of material?

your fault.

on topic.

Save the cheerleader, save the Federation

Wes sees Coleen: Shwing!

"Oh my, what is that?"
"You know that thing that happened in episode 45 of the series?
"Yeah"
"And you know the things that have been happening in volumes 2 through 18 of the novels because of that?"
"Uh huh?"
"Well this has nothing to do with that. In fact we've never experienced anything like it before."

Picard:"Ah! There you are Cmdr.Madden"
Data:"I don't know and I don't care".
kirk:"Well, she's not my type."
Chakotay:" actually captain, I've solved this weeks problem."
Kim: "I think I'll use my own initiatve."

And I just bet all the writers watching this thread are already working out how to use all of these lines...

Not all of them. Data doesn't use contractions. ;)

Except several dozen times in the first season. And anytime he was playing a role or quoting someone else. And anytime Spiner slipped up in delivering the line. And anytime that a novelist or comic author slipped up and had him use a contraction and the editor missed it.

Or when a novelist intentionally had him use a contraction as a subtle critique of how ludicrous the idea of him not using contractions was... (whistles innocently)

I want that book! Could you be so kind as to tell me what it is...?

"The Case of the Colonist's Corpse: A Sam Cogley mystery" (TOS) by Tony Isabella & Bob Ingersoll (2004), following up the character of Sam Cogley from "Court Martial". The book is made to resemble an old 60s detective potboiler MMPB, and even has red-stained endpapers.

He does when he's quoting a text that has contractions, such as Shakespeare, or someone else's words...
