Three Musketeers (2011)

Dream

So did anyone actually see this movie this weekend? All the trailers make this appear like another Milla movie with the actual Three Musketeers as extras. I heard it was pretty bad. Orlando Bloom's career pretty much is dead right now.

It did a ridiciously low 3 million on Friday. :rommie:

For those wondering why I started this topic here, there were airships in the movie.

I thought it was pretty good... and I actually really like the airships at the end. Very reminiscent of the Battle of the Mutara Nebula. :)

I was going to watch it but then saw James corden was in it so decided not to

This is one of those movies I'm happy to see fail.

Alexandre Dumas is probably turning in his grave right now...

Fucking appalling.

Is it trying to be a Steampunk-ish version of the story? I'm puzzled as to why there's an airship in the first place.

As for Orlando Bloom, I never thought he was particularly good.

If this movie is failing i'm happy with it.

I don't mind modern adaptations of classical literature.. love Baz Luhrman's "Romeo and Juliet" or based on stories like "The Man in the Iron Mask" starring DiCaprio and some aged Musketeers hatching a plot to replace a tyrannic king.

But this one has been made with no respect for the original material and even lacks good action.. it's all basic stuff like slow motion ridiculous Matrix style stunts, insane SF plots out of a bad pulp novel and misused otherwise good actors and on top of it they slapped the 3D label on it needlessly to hike up the price.

If enough of these movies fail i hope that Hollywood makes it harder to get these out (they do occasionally slip by as in this case).

I love the story and many of the movie versions were done with a tongue-in-cheek manner and this movie seems to be no exception. I am a very forgiving movie viewer but even I rolled my eyes at the air ships in the trailer. I will watch this on DVD and if I don't take it seriously it looks like it will be entertaining.

Didn't realize it already came out. I was curious awhile ago, but it's certainly stupid and I'm too lazy.

It's too bad, because I like the actors they got for Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. I might check this out when it hits DVD, but otherwise I have no interest.

I was going to watch it but then saw James Corden was in it so decided not to

I didn't know he was in it until I heard/saw him.

Didn't take anything away from the movie for me, even though he was kinda the same character as Craig, only with long hair.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

I went to see it expecting to hate it but it was actually very enjoyable. It is very goofy and comic in a Fifth Element kind of way though, and that took some getting used to at first. But the action scenes were really over the top, there was steam-punk tech, and it was all just very fun and cartoon-y.

Although there was nothing in the trailer that looked objectionable--I mean, it was mostly effects shots--there was also nothing about it that made me want to see it.

Actually, the first thing I thought of when I saw the trailers was that someone had taken Nostalgia and made a movie out of it, but with the Three Musketeers thrown in, too.

My wife is a die-hard fan of the brat-packish version that came out in the 90's and I have to admit I have a soft spot for it too (mostly because of Olivery Platt), so there's not a lot of interest to see this..

I have no illusions of this sticking to the Dumas story either, but being a big Milla fan, I'll probably have a go at this when it hits our dollar theatres in a couple months.
