Spoilers The Most Disliked Episode of LDS, 2023 Edition - Season 4...

Welcome to our bi-yearly 'Most Disliked Episode' games! Now that the 'Least Disliked Episode' games hosted by BlueStuff (who inspired me to create these games, so thank you very much for paving the way) have concluded, we can begin the opposite side of that coin.

Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your most favorite or the one you deem the 'best.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

Hall of Champions (or Failures?)
2023 - "Terminal Provocations"

Season 4

"Twovix"
"I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee"
"In the Cradle of Vexilon"
"Something Borrowed, Something Green"
"Empathological Fallacies"
"Parth Ferengi's Heart Place"
"A Few Badgeys More"
"Caves"
"The Inner Fight"
"Old Friends, New Planets"

Side note: this is the first time I have used a 'Spoiler' tag for part of a thread title, so I hope it shows up once I hit 'Create Thread'. In case it doesn't, since season 4 is still within the 6 month guidelines, if your reason for saving an episode contains a plot point or potential spoiler, please 'Spoiler' tag your reason, but keep the remaining episodes left out of your spoiler tag for progress tracking purposes.

Thank you all.

There has been a recurring thing with STAR TREK shows that I've noticed... season 4 of each series seems to be the best of that show. (With the exception of DISCO, though the ending of that season 4 is still the best one of that entire series to date.) And the 4th season of LOWER DECKS has certainly maintained that tradition!

What an incredible season! It's actually very difficult to choose my first save, because there were multiple 10s this year. However, one edges out because of my love of DS9... and because of how much I love a particular episode and how often I've defended it here.

"In the Cradle of Vexilon" is my first save for multiple reasons.

First, we have Boimler and T'Lyn... it was great to watch his first mission commanding an away team and he had to learn to lead, with great dialogue and advice from T'Lyn.

Second, it was great seeing Captain Freeman working on the ancient computer. That entire subplot was fun.

Third, we have the hazing by Lt. Dirk. Along with our heroes' plan of getting back at him, this was hilarious.

But my main reason for saving this one? We actually went inside the Chula game again! "MOVE ALONG HOME" has been an episode that many people have unjustly derided. I cannot tell you how THRILLED I was that it was not only referenced, but we got to watch it again with Rutherford going through each Shap. I felt so vindicated with all the times I have defended "MOVE ALONG HOME". I love these writers!

ALLAMARAINE!!!!

I'm going to save "Parth Ferengi's Heart Place" for two reasons: the title's reference to the amazing Garth Marenghi's Darkplace (seriously, look it up and watch!), and
Rom and Leeta's return.

"Twovix"
"I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee"
"Something Borrowed, Something Green"
"Empathological Fallacies"
"A Few Badgeys More"
"Caves"
"The Inner Fight"
"Old Friends, New Planets"

I've only seen season four twice rather than the eleventy billion times I've watched the previous seasons, so these episodes are not yet burned into my brain & heart, which means my saves will likely be for relatively flippant reasons. Such as.... Moopsy!
"I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee", you are safe.

"Twovix"
"Something Borrowed, Something Green"
"Empathological Fallacies"
"A Few Badgeys More"
"Caves"
"The Inner Fight"
"Old Friends, New Planets"

Saving "Something Borrowed, Something Green" for the look at Tendi and her backstory, and the nice bit of character development for T'Lyn. Also for the unique way Boimler and Rutherford resolved their dispute.

"Twovix"
"Empathological Fallacies"
"A Few Badgeys More"
"Caves"
"The Inner Fight"
"Old Friends, New Planets"

"Empathological Fallacies" I've rewatched the most of these. T'Lyn is one of those Trek characters I relate to waaaaaaay too much.

"Twovix"
"A Few Badgeys More"
"Caves"
"The Inner Fight"
"Old Friends, New Planets"

Saving "The Inner Fight".

It was a great lead in to the season finale, and we finally got the reason why Mariner is the way she is.

"Twovix"
"A Few Badgeys More"
"Caves"
"Old Friends, New Planets"

I thought "Old Friends, New Planets" was the least amazing LDS season finale, but I still loved it. The
Ferengi Genesis Device paywall was very funny, and the subsequent kablooie a nice homage to TWOK. And Boimler gets to be Captain!!! :adore:  (albeit temporarily)

"Twovix"
"A Few Badgeys More"

That was actually going to be my final save... I was even pre-writing it just now!

So I'll save "Twovix".

The amount of VOY references and homages was plenty, and the plot was hilarious.

The cardboard cutouts of the Voyager crew was a nice touch, despite them not having the full likeness there.

That means "A Few Badgeys More" is the winner of season 4.

I will start the final round shortly. Hope to see everyone there.

Thank you all for playing.

I'm happy with AFBM "winning" - I liked
the "Happy Endings" for Badgey, Agimus and Peanut Hamper, but I would have preferred them to have stayed unrepentant and evil for a bit longer. Oh, and Tyrannikillicus is an even better name than Peanut Hamper! :guffaw:

Thanks for hosting, @Frostscape One :D
