The Least Disliked Episode 2025 - DS9 Season 4

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favourite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

The Muse is an easy first out - for me, it's the only bad episode in this amazing season.

How is DS9 the series with the least clunkers and fillers of them all. A stellar season and if I had to pick the least best of the bunch Hippocratic Oath. I get where Bashir was coming from but he went a bit too far imo. O'Brien was right.

I said in the last round that Star Trek went to the MU well too often and "Shattered Mirror" is defintely one visit too many

This is the best season in the franchise, period. (With DS9 season 5 being a very close second place.) Every elimination is going to be very hard.

I'll take out "INDISCRETION".

Only because Dukat was going to kill his own daughter. Showing us again that he is a terrible person.

The Visitor is out, I hate that episode with a passion and never got the love for it. It's super disrespectful to Cirroc Lofton, literally everybody else gets old age make up and he is recast.
How Sisko acts is not believable, it's absurd that he is so calm whenever he appears, from his perspective all of his appearances happen right after the other, he sees his son age to an old man in what must be a few hours to him and he isn't panicking or concerned? He's just like "Aww, look how old you are ... any kids?"
And of course the episode ends with a massive reset button, so what's the point? It's completely unnecessary, Ben's and Jake's relationship was always portrayed as loving and supportive, this episode added nothing new.

I've never liked "Rejoined" much. It's about two people in forbidden love whose love is forbidden... and that's it. It's a one-episode Trek romance so it was never going to go anywhere, everything that happens feels inevitable and the big choice at the end is taken out of Dax's hands so she doesn't even get that.

Eliminating Starship Down. It's a good episode, but largely functional. We check in with all our characters: how is Worf adjusting, how is Kira dealing with her spiritual sensibilities, is Bashir still creeping on Dax, is Quark softening up. The actual dilemmas they face can seem a little contrived. It's a good one to see go, but it's a great season.

Rules of Engagement because "Main character on trial" episodes are never that interesting to me, we know nothing major will happen to them. There was the fact that Worf was called out for being a bit too trigger happy but that's not enough for me, I enjoy the other episodes more.

Taking out "BAR ASSOCIATION".

It's a great growth episode for Rom, and Odo talking to Worf about his security breaches on the Enterprise that he just happened to have right next to him is always funny, but I personally like it less than the rest.

I know people love it, but "Little Green Men" has never done it for me. And I'm usually #1 fan of any time Trek pulls out "Visit To Earth's Past"! But this one just bores me.

I also just can. not. forgive. the abruptness of the ending, and that it skips over the actual goodbye between Nog and Rom, which to me felt like the entire core and purpose of the episode!

I do love the "Past Tense" callback joke, though.

I'm glad it was someone else that took out Little Green Men, as I had a premonition that I'd be the one taking out all the fan favourite comedy episodes. Though this time I'm going with "The Sword of Kahless". I get what it's doing, but I still think Worf's out of character.

Taking out "RETURN TO GRACE".

Though not the episode's fault, Dukat getting the Klingon ship was a key step in his getting power back and betraying the Alpha Quadrant and making Cardassia a Dominion member.

He should not have been rewarded so much, despite him losing it all in the end.

Removing Broken Link. Rather weak for a season finale. I think that some of the character moments are good, and Rene Auberjonois chews the scenery, but the episode's story is rather shallow.

Sons of Mogh for disrespecting Kurn's wishes like this. And in the end it didn't even make sense, erasing his memory and giving him a new identity is still a death of personality. The Kurn Worf knew is dead.

I am going to take out "Hard Time", I just feel like there is way more they could have done medically at the time. I mean he was obviously struggling and he was asked to go to counseling. They could have at least put him under observation or make him wear a medical monitor to check his brain chemicals and maybe give him a sedative if it got too much.

I'm going to remove "Our Man Bashir", as I didn't feel like it did a great job of feeling like a Bond movie. Granted it was probably drawing from other influences too (the clue is in the title), but for me the vibe was all wrong.

For the Cause is next.

I think the only thing against it is Eddington's betrayal should have been sewn a few seeds in prior episodes to show him growing less favourable towards Starfleet.

I am sad that "OUR MAN BASHIR" (and "THE VISITOR" and "HARD TIME", for that matter) has been eliminated so quickly. But, such is the way with these games. Makes it exciting.

Taking out "CROSSFIRE".

Great scenes with Quark and Odo, but I like this one a bit less than what remains.

Never mind... beaten to the punch.

Taking out "PARADISE LOST" then.

Great episode and two-parter, but I feel the others are better and pack a bigger punch.
