The Essential Voyager episodes

NCC1701

Hi there, my girlfriend and I are watching - in my case rewatching - Voyager, although we don't want to watch every episode, seeing as we both have busy lives. This being the first time in about five years I've watched the show, I can't for the life of me remember which are the best episodes of each season, bar obvious ones like Year of Hell, of course! We've already seen Caretaker, what are the rest of the good episodes out of each season? Cheers!

False Profits? Really? :cardie: I thought that was one of the worst VOY episodes I've seen.

How I would change your list:

Season 1 - add Prime Factors, State Of Flux (for the beginning of the Seska storyline)
Season 2 - add Lifesigns and Tuvix (a highly controversial and therefore interesting episode), maybe Resistance for Joel Gray's performance
Season 3 - get rid of False Profits, maybe add Real Life
Season 4 - definitely add Living Witness and Hope and Fear; get rid of Concerning Flight and The Killing Game (although it is the conclusion of the Hirogen storyline - but a really lame one)
Season 5 - add Night, Drone, Counterpoint, Latent Image and 11:59; I can take or leave Bliss, it's nothing special
Season 6 and 7 - I haven't seen all of them yet

That's a pretty good list. ^^^
Except he forgot "Deadlock".

How could you forget the awesomeness that is "Deadlock"?

..or "Critical Care" from season 7, Treks look into the health care system.

You also need "Flesh & Blood", it plays a very important part in the EMH's quest for equality and segues right into "Author, Author".

I would add Time and Again, the Cloud, and State of Flux to season 1.

Projections, Elogium, Dreadnought, Resistence, Persistence of Vision Maneuvers, the Thaw and Resolutions from season 2.

The Swarm, Alter Ego, Coda, Unity, Displaced from season 3

The Gift, Day of Honor, Retrospect, Living Witness Demon, One to season 4

Night, Drone, Extreme Risk, Nothing Human, Latent Image, Course Oblivion, Relativity to season 5.

Tinker, Tenor Doctor Spy , Dragon's Teeth, One Small Step, Live fast and Prosper, Tsunkatse, Muse, The haunting of Deck 12 to season 6.

Critical care, Lineage, Repentence, WorkForce 1 & 2, The Void, Q2, Renaissance Man to season 7.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I've added them all to a master list, so I'm ready to start our Voyager marathon :techman:

"False Profits" is definitely one of Voyager's weakest episodes, but I think it has some good humor in it at times. When Neelix says "I am the Holy Pilgrim," I couldn't help but laugh.

Season One - "Prime Factors" and "State of Flux" - I can see your point, but the less Kazon, the better.

Season Two - "Lifesigns" = Okay add this one, a good episode. "Tuvix" = pass, not as good as billed, Tuvix is just creepy, and the resolution is far too rushed. "Resistance" = It never really left a mark on me.

Season Three - "Real Life" = I found it more annoying than anything.

Season Four - "Living Witness" = It's as close to the Mirror Universe as Voyager gets, so it's good for that, but not much else. "Hope and Fear" = I thought it rather lackluster for a season finale. "Concerning Flight" = One of my favorites, great humor and John Rhys-Davies is amazing. "The Killing Game" = necessary, too awesome to skip.

Season Five - "Night" = Like "Hope and Fear," lackluster. "Drone" = Okay, add this one, it's pretty good. "Counterpoint" = Okay, add this one; good to see Janeway have some romance. "Latent Image" = again, never left an impression on me. "11:59" = pass, it doesn't even feel like Star Trek to me.

not much more for you, for me it's the single best st episode of all five shows, and i would also include the movies. get the goosebumps every time i watch it, what i did dozends of times.

Holodeck + Space Nazis + all sorts of WW2 movies cliches =

No offence Devil Eyes but I think it pretty sad that when we veiw the Nazi subjection of other human beings as "WW2 movie cliches".

Sorry, it just strikes me as a little insensitive.
:wtf: :wtf:

How did you manage to equate disliking WW2 movie cliches with being insensitive to the horrors of Nazi crimes? :vulcan:

I've seen a fair share of straw man arguments, but this one takes the cake. :cardie:

I guess kinda the same way you took what I said as some type of "straw man arguement", when I wasn't trying to make one.

So it seems we both misinterpreted what the other was trying to say.

Just registered here to say that i used this list, added with the comments to watch the series, and i think it it quite nice.

I agree, it's a pretty good list. Nicely balanced. I see all (?) the double eps are on it, they are EXCELLENT and eminently rewatchable.

It is a very good list. If you are enjoying Voyager for the first time you might like looking up Jim Wright's Voyager site. It is an old one but he has a very good set of reviews. He can also be quite funny in the process. http://www.reviewboy.com/

Workforce and Flesh and Blood weren't included. Those episodes really never did much for me.
Ok but do you think the OP and his gf would enjoy watching them?

Honestly, I think "Real Life", "Workforce" & "Flesh & Blood" make for good eps for a couple just watching the show for the first time. "11:59" is worth it IMO for Mulgrews performance regardless of if it "feels" like Trek or not. Plus, I think you need "F&B" after watching "The Killing Game" because it concludes the Hirogen story arc, fleshes out a little more on their culture and combines the Doc's search for equality arc.

Just giving examples, YMMV.
