The End of an Era: Discontinued products, services, and defunct companies

Kind of random given this is supposed to be tv and movie cancellations. Some of these should probably be in thread in Misc.

Ah, here we go. This thread is to discuss businesses going out of business, products that are not being sold/made anymore, and services that are being ended.

This Twitter page might be of interest, too.

Sorry, is this thread just to plug your X account? If not, can you please provide maybe a bit more clarity? All I see is a link to another thread, a quote from another thread, and a link to X. Thank you.

No, that's not my Twitter account, but it's relevant to the subject of the thread. The quoted post suggested that "And the next cancelled show is" was not the thread for cancelled businesses like Spirit Airlines, so I made a separate thread for that. (like I made one earlier for comic releases, separate from the novel releases)

OK, thank you for the reply. Maybe a little intro paragraph in the OP explaining the purpose of the thread would have been helpful, because it just feels a little ambiguous as it is. But no matter. Carry on.

Ironically, I feel like the bigger the store, the less it sells. I don't think it's my imagination either, because I remember smaller versions of stores carrying a much wider variety of products, before they all became massive stores. Take Canadian Tire for instance. When Target closed in Canada, our local Canadian Tire was quick to move into the bigger space it vacated, and until then we used to rely on it for some very obscure but needed parts, screws or whatever needed to get a job done. But when it moved to the new and bigger space, which became a bit of a concept store for other bigger versions of the chain, we started noticing that what was once easily found at the smaller location was now suddenly not being stocked anymore for whatever reason. Not just a one-time situation, but one we've encountered time and time again.

Trader Joe's used to have a frozen 'Family Size' Mac & Cheese that came with a bread crumb topping that would brown when you cooked it. I loved that entrée, but they discontinued it.

I also miss Robin Hood's lemon loaf mix. It came in a muffin mix-type package and was so good.

Peek Freans assorted tea cookies removed the two flavors I liked and replaced them with one I don't.

I just read that our local Toys R Us is closing at the end of December. Apparently the Canadian operations haven't been doing so hot lately and there might be more closures across the Country.

Here in Western Washington we had a couple of restaurant chains that I thought were pretty good - Sea Galley, a casual seafood restaurant, and Flakey Jake's, a build your own burger restaurant.
We also had Pizza Haven, founded in 1958, which was the first dial and delivery pizza chain in the US.

The last remaining Sea Galley, in the Yakima area, closed just last year. Then the building burned down. :sigh:
