The Amazing Race Season 17 - (Season Wide Discussion)

Wow, you were right, READ THE CLUE!!!!!111

I'm impressed Brooke and Clair caught the mistake, went back and fixed it, and STILL came in 2nd, they are good racers. I'm rooting for them for right now, plus Brooke is hot.

So did Nick and Vicki have the easiest after non-elimination leg in the Race? Where was the Speed Bump?

The two teams I'm rooting for are one and two, and the second team was smart enough to catch the mistake and correct it. That's great, and made me respect them even more. Besides, both those racers are just really really good.

The delay was an hour and five minutes, so the extra hour on my recording still wasn't enough.

I missed the last five minutes. I assume Kevin and his father got eliminated, though. Can anybody sum it up? The last teams were rushing around looking for the pit stop when the recording cut out (Kevin and Michael appearing to be behind the other team, though the other team didn't have their bags--not sure if that matters). Edit: Nevermind... CBS has the episode available on their website already.

I'm happy Kevin and Michael didn't go out because of Michael's difficulties on that final challenge. It's going to be easier for Michael to know that they got eliminated because neither of them read the rules correctly than because of any physical frailty.

Well, they did get to the roadblock in 2nd... depending on how long they took there, they might have been able to serve the 1 hour penalty and still be in the race if they had been able to finish up quickly.

But yes, it's important to read the damn clue.

As for tonight's episode, it was another good one. I'll just say that teams really need to read their clues. :)

Yup. I'm disappointed that Kevin and Micheal were eliminated. Don't know who to root for now. :borg:

I wonder why they didn't show the speed bump task that Nick and Vicki had to do

I always add an extra hour when I TiVo AR, but this time even that wasn't enough. Didn't think that Philly/Indy game would ever end.

Sad to hear that the father/son team got eliminated, but that's what happens when you don't read the clues carefully.

I like that Russian 'bowling' game, I'd like to give that a try.
Sorry the father/son team are gone, I liked them, so I think I'm rooting for Brooke and Clair now. They were smart when they realized they screwed up and still managed to come in second. Plus, anyone who can take a watermelon in the face like that and keep going is alright in my book.

Didn't Kevin say that Michael had spent an hour on the first formation? Yeah, Michael may have contributed equally with Kevin for the boot.

At least I don't have to keep listening to Kevin backhandedly put his dad down every episode. If you thought the guy was going to be that much of a liability, why bring him?

There was no speed bump (note that Phil didn't tell them they would have to do one when he announced it was non-elimination).

Based on what I've heard, there was a huge behind the scenes screw-up with the piano challenge, including judges accidentally saying Nick and Vicki's music answers were wrong when they were in fact right, plus when they abandoned the music challenge for the film challenge they apparently sent the musicians home, so when N&V came back to try the music challenge again they had to get the musicians back (or get alternative ones).

Yes TAR wil be in HD in its spring cycle, which is nice to have solid confirmation of a spring cycle through official channels (the one I said about a month ago thats going to be returning racers). It should begin filming int he next three weeks with an LA start (I hate that), I have already been asked (and turned down) to stake out LAX and the shuttle service they use.

Wow. I hope they gave N&V a head-start after that...

Wow. If that's what happened, that's a pretty big oops. I noticed that they didn't show the starting times of each team at the beginning of this episode- I wonder if that had something to do with the snafu as well.

Well teams for season 18 are being sequestered now (which happens typically the week before filming), and I can absolutely confirm they are returning racers.

As my speculation list of racers has gotten back to me with how many of my picks are right.

You know what would be cool, if they did a season where the racers were composed of the 2nd place winners, or even 4th place, to give them another chance at 1st place or at least making into the final 3.

I'm not sure what they could do to change up the format now... which is why I'm at the point where I think the Allan Wu editions are more interesting to watch. It's not that the events or anything are different, but having an international cast (complete with American ex-pats. :lol) somehow makes it kind of fresh.

Maybe if they did yet another All-Stars, they should mix up the teams or something just to try to introduce new dynamics.

Well the public should have the teams for the 18 season known probably as early as Thanksgiving, as the race is expected to start filming between Saturday and Tuesday. And since it is old racers (though not very old, as its rumored to be from only seasons 12 forward). Back in Aug when I was told yes it is all stars for season 18, I made a list of what teams I didn't ever want to see on it (known of them are, but I didn't expect any of those to make it), 4 teams that I thought caused a lot of conflict (only one of them is cast), made a pick of who I might cast if trying to match former racers to the general breakdown of a typical season (only got a few of those right), and then I picked 5 teams I would love love to see again that got booted early and two of those teams got cast. I never asked if they had created any new teams, or anything like that.
