The A-Team (2009) Casting Ideas (spoilers)

Ok so I heard that "The A-Team" movie is coming out in 2009 with Woody Harrelson as Murdock and Ice Cube as B.A. Barackus.

Ah yes, another great TV show destroyed by being "re-imagined"...

If you could cast the stars to make this pending abomination watchable, who would it be?

- George Clooney as Hannibal Smith
- The Rock as B.A. Barackus (he has the personality)
- Jim Carrey as Murdock (this one's a no-brainer)
- Clive Owen as Faceman (I had to pick someone besides Brad Pitt so this wouldn't feel like Ocean's Fourteen... plus I love Clive Owen)

Funny thing is, with the exception of the now-deceased George Pappard, all the remaining actors still look pretty close to the way they did back then and could easily reprise their rolls. Woody Harrelson? For some reason, I really can't stand that guy.

I think Mr.T could still play BA but the rest would need to be re-cast. IMO the only one who should be in the movie is Jim Carrey as Murdock, that would be fantastic.

Josh Holloway as Face

Mel Gibson, George Clooney or Bruce Willis as Hannibal (Bruce seems to have been approached, according to recent scuttlebutt)

Carrey would be a good Murdoch, but is arguably likely to dominate the movie and make it less of an ensemble (think Batman Forever). To be fair, the same could apply to most of the candidates who could play the role - Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Adam Sandler etc). I may be in the minority, but I think Woody Harrelson could be a good Murdock and is not such a larger than life actor that he'd overshadow everyone else.

BA - really depends how they want to go with him. No-one is quite like Mr T in terms of presence and personality. Ironically, compared to many actors now, his physique looks quite ordinary and not so incredible as it did in the 1980s. Ice-Cube has the big-badass-but-cuddly-under-it persona but isn't quite physically imposing enough. Michael Clarke Duncan has the bulk (or even too much of it) but not quite the sassy attitude. He's the closest I can think of, though.

But from what I've heard, they want to make him a big guy with 0% body fat, a la Tyrese Gibson. Boooooooring!

Didn't they used to always mention Ving Rhames every time A-Team rumors popped up? I think be as good playing B.A. as anyone else mentioned in this thread.

I always thought Michael Clarke Duncan would make a good BA and Michael Shanks would make a good Face.

But, frankly, I so enjoyed this stupid TV show because of the banter and friendship between the guys. It was a silly, live-action cartoon. I hear that John Singleton wants to make it a serious, violent action flick and make Face the bad guy.

Now I know how all those Mission:Impossible fans felt. Jesus! :scream:

This whole idea is very, very wrong. I sure as hell won't go see it.

Dwight Schultz as Murdock (hey, if it aint broke. . . )
Amen to that!

I'm not looking forward to this movie because I simply can't see Woody Harrelson as Murdock or Ice Cube as BA. *shudder*

That said, I agree that Josh Holloway would make a great Face.

Ben Browder as Murdock, he has some experience playing crazy pilots.
That's the best suggestion I've read so far (other than bringing back Schultz, of course). The problem with most of the suggestions (Black, Ferrell, Carrey, Sandler), I've seen so far is that they're all actors known for playing zany, over the top characters when they're doing comedy. Granted they're some good dramatic characters (especially Carrey), but Murdock isn't a straight up comedy character. Yeah, he was crazy but there's more to him than that.

Katee Sackhoff as Face just to see how Dirk Benedict responds. :)

How about Robert Downey, Jr. as Murdock and James Spader as Face?

Just be thankful this won't be Will Farrell as Hannibal, Ashton Kutcher as Face, Adam Sandler as Murdock and Queen Latifah as B.A.

He might be too tall as face though, then you have the same problem as the original pilot episode of the A team with Tim Dunnigan as face, taller than Hannible and BA.

While Josh would make an excellent face, then you really would have to go for someone towering as BA.
