Spoilers Ted Lasso Season 3 Discussion

Give it time, the show still has enough episodes left in the season.

Roy having a blast with his training "idea" had me laughing so hard - what a bastard :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

And boy will some people here hate Nate's story this week and i don't get it. We all know why he was/is like that and if the show has shown us anything it's that everybody is redeemable, you just have to want to forgive them. Rebecca was a huge bitch in season 1, Ted forgave her. Jaime was a giant prick from the start and look where he is now ( i actually have become a huge fan of his dynamic with Roy this season, some of the funniest scenes).

So let's see what happens with Nate as the season goes on.

That being said the show feels kind of disjointed for some characters, especially Keeley. She is out there doing her thing, apparently moved on from Roy but what does she bring to the show anymore? Her and Rebecca barely meet anymore, which was an awesome dynamic in season 1 and 2, her relationship with Roy was funny and realistic ( until he blew it) but what's her purpose now in the show? It feels like a Keeley show wrapped around with the Ted Lasso show.

I feel the show has let some of the supporting characters fall way too much by the wayside - Rebecca, Higgins and Keeley to be specific. They don't contribute nearly as much as they used to and to me the season suffers for it. I hope they turn it around somewhat in the remaining season.

Again, Jamie had to eat crow after his actions cost him a place at Manchester City and any respect he had in the game. He hit rock bottom and had to crawl his way back and beg for forgiveness. The same thing happened with Rebecca as things kept going wrong for her. What’s gone wrong for Nate, exactly? A restaurant owner sucking up his arsehole every time he sees him? Him getting dates with a girl he pined after when he was a nobody? Flash car? A job at a Premier League club? A date with a model? Ooh, I wonder how he manages to get out of bed every day.

The message this season has been that being a fucking arsehole has no consequences. He’s landed where he is by being the worst kind of person. So, once again for those in the back. Fuck Nate. It’s just a shame the car ran over his shitty little box rather than his head.

Jesus Dude, it's just a TV show. Chill.

We just have not seen what will happen to Nate to put him back on the right path. Yes, all the others had their moments of truth, why do you think it won't happen with Nate?

Nate wasn't rewarded for his bad behavior. He got a better paying job but he lost all of his friends and the support system developed with Ted. Not everything is about money and fame and I think he is now just starting learn that. I think he is learning that some of the things he wanted were not the things he really wanted. That respect doesn't come from power or how good you are at your job but instead by how you treat people.

"LIKE" doesn't do this justice.

What is interesting is seeing how Nate thinks of Ted and also his life. Rupert has giving him or tried to give him anything he wants. More money, head coach of a top notch team, new car and even a parking spot. Yet despite that what seems to make Nate happy most is this developing romance with the waitress and also has a desire to apologize to Ted.

I think that is because he realizes Ted truly cared about him and his friends cared but Rupert just wants him to get some kind of revenge on his ex-wife. Nate is being used as a pawn in that game of his. Also his very hair tells you just how much he regrets his actions.

He was given a plot-reward girlfriend, despite not displaying any reason for her to like him and a history of acting like he should be entitled to one It's quintessential "incel" behavior, something straight out of an anime.

It's like the definition of rewarded for bad behavior. JFC, Jayson.

You know that Nick Mohammad has a second job?

Season three started airing last week.

Although I'm not sure if it was special, or episode three-oh-one, since IMDB and Wikipedia haven't begun to admit that it's a thing properly.

I'm hoping that Nate's true turn is still to come. Last we saw, he's still bullying and belittling his players. Could be something happens where he shits all over them, or someone else he sees as below him in the pecking order, in front of Jade, and has to decide that treating everyone with respect is worth more than establishing dominance over others by being a huge asshole.

It's to early to call her his girlfriend. He asked her on a date and she said yes. Not the same. I think we will see her help him process these emotions he is going through but has nobody else really to talk to about them. Which is something I think has been a issue his whole life. He is insecure because he has had nobody to really be a friend to him over the years. Ted Lasso was the first person to give him respect and he saw him like a dad and felt burned when Tod got angry. He has been immature because he has been lonely most of his life.

If this is incel behavior then it shows why people would get their. Absent of love and friendship will make you hard and bitter and angry. I think loner is more accurate than incel with him because he doesn't have that entitled feeling towards women. It's more about having his heart broken because he feels this person who was a father figure let him down. He is sort of like a child in that way. He is learning life lessons at a age in which most people have already learned them because he never had someone to learn to be better when he was younger.

Also the idea of nobody can learn from their mistakes or get better go against the very nature of the show. Rupert is the closest thing to a bad guy on the show who is a regular. To me the show is the TNG of this era. It has the same positive message about humanity and shows a world you want to live in if only you could. Different genre of shows but same feelings.

Absolutely none of this excuses the way he’s behaved. His inability to deal with his own emotions is not an excuse for him to threaten Will in the boot room. Or to cut about spitting on mirrors. Or to go after Colin the way he did. Or betray Ted to the press.

You also can’t say this is the work of Rupert either because he was acting this way before he took himself off to East London.

The line being excuse and reasons can be fine. Also good people are capable of doing bad things. Emotions lead people to doing bad things sometimes. But humans are also capable of learning from their mistakes if people give them a chance.

Well, I guess after today, the question of whether or not she's Nate's girlfriend can be answered.

Felt kind of like a filler episode, but some interesting movement with Ted's familial situation.

There are some great episodes this season exploring different subjects tastefully and done well but I miss the conflict between the main characters. Everyone is kinda chill with each other and very supportive. For me it makes it a weaker season compared to seasons one and two.

And nobody is making excuses for him, he was a dick back then - period.

Jury's still out what happens with current and future Nate. We haven't seen him lash out for a while at others but he's still this insecure man, who can't stand up for himself.

What a quintessential and typical Ted Lasso episode - it just makes you feel all good and warm inside, just what people want and need sometimes :) .

They handled Colins' homosexuality in the typical Lasso way - everybody accepts him directly and even Isaac comes around at the end. Completely unrealistic but still so nice to see.

Breakout part this week was Roy though - awesome how Rebecca ripped his head off ( one of the few who actually can and dare to) and then he turns around and does a Ted at the press conference with a Roy twist of course, awesome.

Anthony Head as Rupert just creeps me out to no end, he plays the villain so well that my skin crawls everytime he has dialogue. It's like watching an evil snake stalking its prey. Good for Nate breaking out of his grip for once but the look Rupert gave Nate was chilling.

Side Note - after Isaac makes Sam captain that little wordless exchange between Sam and Jamie wanting to be captain and Sam shooting him down with a smile and a middle finger, that had me lauging out loud. Oh and Beard going mental about guitarists with a reporter at the press conference :lol:

"Stairway to Heaven is a glorified finger exercise! AND YOU ALL KNOW IT!"

OK, I didn't notice the title, so I thought I was clever that I knew that was George Hearn in La Cage Aux Folles. Hearn, right? One of the Sweeney Todds. That could, you know, sing.

Did he apologize or do something to make up for what he did? No?

The jury then decided.
