Hmm, I wonder if this is supposed to be an intentional in-joke about how the 90s shows always had to reuse models, even for supposedly "new" ships. Taking a ship which is near identical to the Excelsior and pretending its new and state of the art?

Hmmm.. those Nacelle struts seemed to be angled compared to the Excelsior Class...And with Red Brussard Collectors.. Would be cool if it was a Fill in the Blanks kinda ship. Like.. Rigel Class? Bradbury Class? Maybe a crossover ship for the new StarTrek:Prodigy? Can anyone make out the NCC number on that ship???

I just realized that somewhere there is a Starfleet Ship with the number NCC-80085

Yeah.. Looked like NCC 43002 or NCC 63002 or NCC83002 to me too...

That larger ship is probably not an Excelsior, as such.

Obviously it LOOKS a lot like one, but the nacelles are different. And we've seen differences smaller than that which warrant an entirely new class (i.e. Miranda vs. Soyuz).

It is to the Excelsior what the Akira class is to the NX-01. Or those STO designs that take the DSC season one 23rd century ships and update them for the late 24th century.

That neck though...

The neck also looks thicker on this ship than on the Excelsior (and it has windows, which the Excelsior neck doesn't). Another reason I suspect it's a different class.
