Stephen King’s IT movie announced for September 2017

Wow. I had to go all the way back to last July to find the thread to put this in.

Guess this clown just snuck up on everybody...

I saw the trailer earlier today, I thought it was mediocre. The bit we see of the clown isn't very good (the "shakey horror movement" near the end made me roll my eyes). I don't know why they went so far out of the way to hide him, since there are official pictures of the clown released, some of which I've seen as thumbails on other uploads of this trailer.

Looks pretty creepy, compared to the the 1990 TV version. I'm glad they can do this movie uncensored (since its not on broadcast TV). Would like to see other Steven King TV movies done this unrestricted way (The Stand and the Langoliers come to mind)

^^ The Stand is in development if I recall correctly.. Supposedly going to be split into four films, which might be a little much, but I can see why, considering the source material is so prolific.

1922 is my favorite King not-a-novel. I'm really hoping the adaptation is awesome.

I'm reading IT at the moment and I'm really hyped for this movie!!

I haven't read IT since highschool, and with good reason... More than any of his books, that one gave me the frights... Seriously scared the crap out of me..

I like everything I've seen so far EXCEPT for Pennywise himself. Something about him just doesn't work for me. I recorded the original last night which I haven't seen since it first aired, I'm curious to see how it holds up.

God that truly creeps me out

IT is one of my favorite books and i usually hate the horror genre (both in movie/TV and book form) but Stephen King manages to write such gread characters and villains that i had a pretty big King phase in my teenage years (kinda dropped out of it).

These trailers really make my hair stand up... i have no problem seeing slasher movie trailers with all their gore and overblown blood parties but IT is much more sublime, catching us at our worst fears and playing on that. The trailers are so well made that i absolutely have to see this two parter.

I'm wondering about two things though and how it will translate to the movie.

At the final fight when they encounter IT they see it as a giant spider because the human mind can't grasp its true form and has to substitute for something that everybody is afraid of. However when they initiate the Ritual of Chud they basically travel through another dimension or something like it and see a sort of Terry Pratchet universe.. really curious to see if they will go this bizarre.

However what's even more fucked up is when they defeat/drive it back it as kids they get lost in the sewer canals and for whatever reason (i still don't understand it until today) the girl decides to have sex with all of the boys so they can find their way out.. WTF? She basically has a gangbang.. at age 11 or so. Please tell me i misremember something or have missed something bit i can never see this scene make it into the movie.. the uproar would be heard around the world and the movie would never be released as a major motion picture.

We won't see that--or the kids as they are grown up.

Here--this is going to track more like the Goonies--the children as they are will off the Clown.

We will see the kids grown up, because this is part one of a two-part adaptation. The second part will focus on the Losers as adults, with flashbacks to when they were kids.

As for "that scene," I believe I read that they will not be including that in the movie. Thank goodness for that.
