State of Play

Is it just me or was anyone rather underwhelmed by Playstation's latest State of Play?

I think the standout for me was the Ghosts of Tsushima sequel, Ghosts of Yotei. But why oh why do we need a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster when it was already one of the best looking games on the PS4, when the PS5 can play PS4 games. Honestly, I'm getting rather tired at all these remasters for previous generation games when the consoles are backwards compatible anyway. It's like console gamers have become fickle, and anything that isn't up to the latest graphical standards is considered not good enough, or so that's what Sony and others would like to let people think. It's why this generation has felt more and more like a generation of remasters. Now The Legacy of Kain remasters make sense, being older games. But where are the new games? Even among the first-party studios we haven't seen much new out of them. On top of that there's that PSVR2 Hitman, which is weird as I thought Sony had abandoned the hardware.

They should have called it State of remasterd pre order bonus play lol

But yeah it pure meh, but from now on they no longer need to try because no more competition, so they can now just coast along with min effort for max profit.

But the real fun comes tomorrow when pre orders go live and we at last, get to see the price of the pro limited edition model.......i am sticking with £1000, but it could be higher. Lol

I heard it could go as high as $1200 USD, which if true, with all the taxes, would come out roughly to $1800 CND. That's more than double the price of the PS5 in Canada. At this point, it's no longer expensive. It's stupidly expensive. I also think it becomes a question of ethics at this point.

But anyway, I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt underwhelmed by the showcase.

I've heard that the new Astrobot game is good, but at the same time, I've heard that because it showcases Playstation franchises, that it only reinforces how weak this generation has been, as it gets propped up by a parade of older IPs. That's kind of ironic.

It was a pointless show and further cemented this generation as being quite empty in everything bar the cost.

You got that right! I was hoping they'd unveil at least one big new IP, but aside from the Ghosts of Tsushima sequel, everything was lackluster. Even then what we got was: Sequel or Remaster. I've been nicknaming this generation the Remastered Generation for this reason.
