Here we are. Four decades after the original and we're gearing up for another one with with the original cast. Who would have thought that we'd see the day. Tickets haven't completely sold out (a point made in TV spots) but there's still excitement in the air for what looks to be a good movie. Will Rey turn to the dark side? Will we see Lando Calrissian? These are questions I've had for the last two years and I'm sure you have your own. Hopefully Episode VIII delievers. See you on the other side.

And what's up with all the red in the promotional material? I like it.

If this really is a retelling of Empire Strikes Back, I might be a tad disappointed. The trailers have looked pretty good, and seeing Luke again is going to be awesome.

I can't say much about the movie, Because there are spoilers I want to let other fellow fans experience it for themselves.. Let's just say I can't say I am Happy at all about the movie, or the ending.. But Hey, you might! So check it out, but I already put my vote in.. I'm not going any further then that. After the commercial debut, I will be glad to discuss my thoughts on the movie.

Where were you able to see it? I assume you voted the F?

If you're not going to share your thoughts on the film, there was no reason for you to post anything, and you're just basically Trolling.

Can you post a picture of your pass to the premiere?

Yes, but I can't say how I could see it, or rather who showed me. Let's just say there is a reason they don't want other people to spoil it for you. Unless you want me to post some spoilers, and place my thoughts on the movie. No, I don't have a ticket to the premier, but lets say a certain celeb has written a short synopsis, and has smart phone clips. It's not online, it's a file being emailed as a link and only certain people are sharing it. I'm just lucky or not lucky depends your Preference. If the mods say I should plop spoilers as to not be called a troll, I'll do it. But I wanted to wait to join in once others saw it.

So, you haven't seen the film, but you've seen clips? Am I getting that right? Because there is a difference between the two. Context is key.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified. I've read the synopsis, and seen the clips on key plot points. I was contacted by a friend of mine who lives in Sacramento. He sent me a drop box link, and invited a couple other people to see it. I haven't watched the movie myself yet. That's why I don't want to really say anything. But I know a lot that will be kinda hard to take as a long term fan of the series. We all know something is coming. Something horrible, but no one wants to believe it. I saw it, and I'm kinda bumbed out like I was in TLJ...that's all I'm saying..

Then frankly, you have no right to judge a film that you haven't seen in its entirety. As I suggested, context is key. Scenes taken in a vacuum on a cell phone video don't have the same effect as seen strung together in a narrative. Even with a brief synopsis, you really just know the idea of a film through an individual's lens. Not the same thing. At. All.

That's true. But I don't have to watch the movie after getting the synopsis along with the clips..to know I don't like the story. Its probably got great scenes but with any movie it's the story that I care about, not just the eye candy and nostalgia, but the overall story. I liked the movie the Mist, but the ending made me dislike that movie very much. So it is about the story for me. My vote stands. Luke is very powerful, but what cost is the projection of that power...

You're missing my point. You may not like a specific plot detail when told in a standalone scene, but you don't know how the story is told. It's like a house. The frame may look ugly, but when you get the walls up, it makes a difference. It might be beautiful. Something that sounds terrible in idea might be far better in execution. Eye candy and nostalgia can be great, but context and the story are key. I still think you're unfairly judging something you haven't seen. But to each his own.

You make good points. I don't know, I've never done this before. Honestly the only reason I was invited to the link was because the guy who sent it is a huge Doctor Who fan, and I've done some commission work for him, and showed him some stuff on the TARDIS that I am working on, tech spec wise that nobody has ever seen yet. He wanted to return the favor. Other then that, I'm not connected to Hollywood or anything like that. I just thought I'd post here some stuff, when I saw the title of the thread, I figured maybe someone else also got that info and had already been talking about it. I probably should have held my vote. But the synopsis and the clips were very detailed, the clips were about 5-10 minutes each. They were numbered in the drop box folder and were pointed to by number after sections of the synopsis told you to click and open them, the celeb apparently who took the clips with his phone is known not in front of the camera, but behind it. My only promise was to not divulge the names on who leaked that, or to ruin anything for fans who haven't seen it. So, I don't know. Like I said, maybe I should have clarified, and should have held my vote until I saw it myself. Either way, I do know and have seen major clips. The total time is about 40 minutes worth.
