Tasty detailing! I admire someone who goes to this much trouble in nooks and crannies like the area under that tail “hood”. It will never be seen except from very close and at specific angles, but it adds to the overall realism of the object.

Same here! It's a talent and one that I'm envious of!
This is amazing work Hanzhefu! I'm really loving these re-imagined ships. While I like Discovery, I also like your version as well. I'm especially glad that you made the Enterprise larger than Discovery, unlike in the show. For whatever reason, I'd always gotten the impression from watching Star Trek that the Enterprise (well the class really) was the largest, most advanced ship in the fleet. Don't know why, but it's an impression I've had for 45 years. So it was jarring to see Discovery larger than the Enterprise.
Keep up the amazing work and can't wait to see more!
Perhaps I will someday! I appreciate the complimentsThis is some beautiful art. Its inspiring and frustating at the same time (because my stuff looks really amateurish and crappy next to this..).
I don't want to come across as brisk or pushy...but would you like to make a screenshot in random madcap mode, and/or a screenshot where one can see the mesh of one of your projects?. I am really interested in your techniques because here is much, much, much to learn for me. Also I would like to know if you use any add-ons in blender (boxcutter?). And how did you create the procedural texture of that discovery saucer?(screenshot node editor??)
I know...these are lots of requests, and I can fully understand If you have no time or interest in giving online lessons to random strangers. But I am pretty sure I'm not the only one who can learn a thing or two from you.
Also your Discovery IS beautiful.
Let's redesign the CTRL+PASTE...I mean the Hoover....I mean the Inquiry class from Picard

Its the Lawnmower Man (if you've seen it, you know the moment I'm talking about)That deflector looks to be something on the underside of a world devastator giving Ferngully, the last rainforest a buzz-cut.

“These starships all look like shavers.”
I love that ship so much. Those nacelle and pylons on the redesign are very interesting. For some reason it gives me a bit of a Klingon-esque feel and I'm not sure why.Let's redesign the CTRL+PASTE...I mean the Hoover....I mean the Inquiry class from Picard

Those uniforms are decent design. Here's a mockup of some ideas for a 25th century uniform, to go along with the Inceptor (call it a 1st draft) I'm also planning on doing the crew as well. I have a rough idea of who they are and what they're going to look like
Most of my problems with both versions were with the shape of the shapes within the shapes (haha), how they connected, and the bevel profile choices. Not so the overall silhouette (if that makes sense). That's not to mention it not fitting the era. I guess the point of this was to prove it could be a better design, and use more TOS aesthetics.
Speaking of slapped some grid lines procedural textures on the Disco for reasons. I might as well get working on a fully detailed model of it at the rate I keep iterating:

Thanks! And no, the saucer doesn't spin on this one. I would change the spore drive into merely a new experimental way to power the warp drive that makes it much faster, but ultimately fails in the end. That or Discovery would be the first attempt at a transwarp drive.I'm a bit late (an understatement!) to the party on this but just wanted to post that I like your take on the DISCO. Are the groves on the saucer supposed to indicate a spinning platter ala the DISCO fidget spinner spore drive mechanic but in 2d and fully contained in the saucer proper?
