Is the actor Bruce Horak's leaving by his own choice? Or is he wanting to leave like 1 of those Denise Crosby type decision. As on IMDB, he has no upcoming TV show/ movies. Is he that on the script way back at the beginning that he knows his life span is 9 episodes?

The whole episode is an exact clone of the movie Alien
They told him before he signed onto the role exactly what their plans for the character were. It was something they planed to do from the start.

Another badly done episode. Instead of using the potential it had in the monster that is the gorn, they literally spend about 3/4 of all shots focused in on the characters' extreme fear and other emotions. It's ridiculous. The producers don't know what the hell they're doing. It's sci-fi not soap opera trash. This would be like an action movie continuously showing cars blowing up. Like 30 of them. After the first 2 it gets old and does nothing. They think they're being all dramatic and deep and instead - the spock scene where he whips himself into anger - cringe. Stupid x100. Luann, or whatever the hell her forgettable name is, is a terrible actor trying to show aggression - just comes across as fake and forced. She's not a bad actor overall though.

 I guess those are the type of replies you give when you know I'm right but can't think of anything. Look, everybody knows all first season star trek is TRASH. I've already seen SNW S2 and it's much better. What's the point of denying the obvious. Encounter at Farpoint was unwatchable, cringeworthy garbage - why deny it? Only trekkies think otherwise, defending everything star trek when the outside world knows better...

Again, I'll ask the question, why are emotions bad? We see Kirk struggle with them and be literally at war with himself. We see Data struggle with them, etc.

I may not like this episode but this idea of dealing with emotions makes it trash is a weird take given Trek's history.

I loved Season One of SNW. You can find my vote and comments on this episode up thread. My opinion hasn't changed. I've rewatched the episode several times.

Season one of SNW is stronger than most other Star Trek.

When a statement begins "everyone knows," the speaker is usually talking through their hat and can't defend their claim. Such is the case here.

Nothing wrong with emotional content of course. As I posted, it's the sheer amount and the way it's presented. It would be like if literally every single shot was a head-only shot showing closeup faces, and nothing else the entire episode...oh wait that was basically it! It's the way it's shot, directed...bad decisions. The script wouldn't have led to this, I don't think - or just not this bad, I should say. Oh, and continuity errors (visual, between shots) are terrible in this show if you watch closely. They don't know what they're doing, I maintain. Probably low-budget, incompetent staff, would be my guess. :D

I assume your have applied to replace this incompetent staff then?

I would welcome your attempt to do better.

I don't think anybody here knows you're right but certainly know you're being abusive with your personal opinions. Warning for Trolling.

I will note that the whole business of juvenile Gorn being capable of reproducing, and their extremely rapid development, doesn't work all that well with what was established in "Arena."

Nothing about the Gorn other than that at least some of their number are bipedal reptilians was ever established in "Arena."

Nor with typical real world life cycles.

True, but also I'm not convinced that the Gorn juveniles we saw in "All Those Who Wander..." are the same species as the bipedal Gorn seen in "Arena" and "In A Mirror Darkly, Part II." I think it's entirely possible this is either another species in political union with that one, or possibly a pet or hunting animal.
