Plus the fact that a TOS-style Gorn skeleton (in fact a pretty close match for the TOS look) was in Lorca's private lab aboard Discovery in Season 1 of that series. The Kurtzman Era has given us TOS-style Gorn specimens in both DSC and LD and these more xenomorph-like ones in SNW. Could be that both looks are Gorn but just different genomes and "Gorn" could mean every sentient spacefaring species within the Hegemony and not just one species.

Just look up dogs and tell me there are not different phenotypes within a species.

This is absurdist reductionist reasoning at its most outlandish in fan groups that only one presentation of an alien species is the right way.

If Earth based dogs were a Trek species, we would see a Great Dane in one episode, then a chihuahua later on and declare it a separate species.
