Star Trek Ship Model Magazines

Please excuse my ignorance if my question seems a bit "odd"...having just gotten back in to modeling after a long illness, I started to build Star Trek kits as I am a relatively keen fan, of the ships at least, and heard there was a dedicated Star Trek Modeling Magazine centered on the ships of the series. I wondered if you folks know where to get back issues or even if I am on the right track to get these mags...? I am at present tackling the USS Franklin and 1701 Re-Fit with added LED lighting. The site moderator sent me here to see if you chaps could help this 'ol fart...I was there there in front of our tiny colour CRT when the first Star Trek aired...WOW...warp now spore drive...!

Kind regards

Back in the eighties and nineties, there were magazine-format handbooks that gave fairly good instructions on building and "accurizing" several Star Trek models, and sometimes Fine Scale Modeler has Trek-oriented articles, but I don't recall a magazine specifically-focused on building Trek models. And these days, you're not likely to find any. You're much better off digging through the web for places like this forum for the information you need. You'll learn tons more than you would with any magazine.

EDIT TO ADD:
I'll try to keep a running list here of suggested sites you might find useful posted by other forum regulars. I'll start it off with:
The Prop Builder's Forum -- a great resource for all kinds of modeling; from kits to scratchbuilt.

Much appreciated gents, found a few good things to get me going. I think what I read "somewhere", was a site/store that sold Trek models either die cast or..??..and you received a mag to go with it...??? GEEZ, for the life o me I cannot remember the name, but if memory serves it was kinda like a subscription or something that you got every month ...??? really trying to dig the memory banks here, but that's all I can think of... :-(

Sounds like you are talking about the Eaglemoss Official Starship Collection (US site here). Their (more often than not brilliant) models are pre-built, pre-painted models out of die cast metal parts and plastic components. They come with a magazine and you can subscribe to the line (although you don't need to, they can be ordered in their online shop separately). Actual model building isn't involved though. Hope that helps.

THAT'S IT...!!! Thanks a bunch for solving the mystery. You are correct though, it's a collector type of thing and I was under the impression from memory it had somethin to do with actual building. No worries, fun to look at and might be fun to get a couple just for the display case if no "real" models are available... ;-)

Thanks again for the link and info

Eaglemoss also has a "build the 1701-D" subscription, where they send some parts and a magazine that includes assembly instructions and behind-the-scenes information to build a large model of that ship. Could be you're thinking of that. I believe at this point it has only launched in the UK.

Ya, that part-by-part sounds interesting, but I checked with email to see if it may be coming "across the pond" as it were...! The Picard ship is not one of my real faves to be honest. I like the chunkier steam punk look of the NX-01 and others like it. I can't stand the "flying spoon" version or the version that ran into a planet and squished the main saucer...LOL...!!
Will wait and see what Eaglemoss says
