Star Trek Reboot series.

Well, if you look at the game world, you'll find Star Fleet Battles, based on TOS/TAS. Going from biggest to smallest:

Battleship -- this is a beast. Four engines and a ton of weapons. In the game's lore, only the Klingon B-10 was ever constructed, with many delays and cost overruns. Everyone else designed one, but nobody could afford to build it.

Dreadnought -- a true heavy-hitter, with thee engines and half-again more weapons than a cruiser. Many were converted to Heavy Carriers with a boat load of space fighters / attack shuttles. Klingon C-9

Heavy Battle Cruiser -- a maxed-out cruiser, attempting to cram a Dreadnought's weapons onto a cruiser hull. Klingon C-7

Heavy Cruiser -- Our favorite ship. The cruiser is a perfectly balanced work of art capable to handling any mission that comes its way. Klingon D-7 (and the earlier D-6)

Light Cruiser -- basically, three-quarters of a Heavy Cruiser, also an all-around balanced ship.

War Cruiser -- a cheaper Light Cruiser with reduced peacetime capabilities. Many variants including carriers, escorts, and scouts (see below). Klingon D-5

Destroyer -- half of a Heavy Cruiser. The Federation's Saladin-class is affectionately known as the Lollipop due to the top silhouette (one engine and a saucer). Many were built as Electronic Warfare ships, aka "Scouts", with powerful sensor/scanners that doubled as jammers. Also, many were converted to Carrier Escorts to protect the flattops.

Frigate -- a third of a cruiser. Used as a screen for the main war ships. Often converted to carrier escorts, also converted to scouts and supply / transport ships. The Klingon F-5 is either the game's biggest Frigate or smallest Destroyer.

Cutter / Corvette -- The smallest independent warship. For the Federation, this was the main Police Force boat (not part of Star Fleet -- think US Navy/Coast Guard relationship). The Klingon E-4 was a convoy escort and used as a carrier escort.

Gunboats / Fast Patrol Ships -- about 35 meters long with a tiny crew, these were flying weapon platforms. They were too small to operate in deep space without a PF Tender, typically a converted CW. Usually deployed as a flight of six, it was a cheap way of adding a dreadnought's firepower into the battle.

Fighters / Attack Shuttles -- one or two-man combat shuttles, typically in squadrons of six fighter, the cruiser-base carriers usually carried 12 while the dreadnought-based heavy carriers had 24.

I hope that was the type of information you were looking for.

I wasn't looking per say. But the info is appreciated. Personally I always found the Starfleet battles classification a little to cluttered with to many ship types doing the same thing. And its reliance on comparing vessels by firepower rather than the role they perform in a fleet. Although for someone with a heavy military focus. Like say the Klingons such a system would not be a terrible idea.

Starship registries. NCC-####

Standing for Naval Construction Contract this abbreviation is given to all vessels operated by Starfleet regardless of role and mission. The first ships of the registry belonged to its predecessors the UESN and UESPA. The numbers are from 2480-2620 ordered sequentially. However following the Tomed incident Starfleet decides that such a system is flawed and allows foreign powers to judge roughly how many ships are in Starfleet service.

As a result a new system is devised. Consisting of six numbers the new system is quickly implemented after 2628 for all new construction vessels, though older ships will sometimes maintain their old style registries.

The new six digit system stands for the year in which the ship was commissioned 1&2, the precise number of ships commissioned before her in that decade 3&4, and finally the month in which the vessel was commissioned 5&6. Many ships are commissioned in months of just a single digit however due to Starfleet production schedules. Making six digit registries something of a rarity.

Just wrote something to make registries make some sense in my own head and that I can use in this series going forward. Figured I would post it to let everyone know this hasn't died yet and I am still working on actual episodes.

Ok another quick announcement for the day. Kalga a very talented 3d modeller has been making some ships for the series to use in a variety of pictures which will go with the episodes.
Here is what we worked out for the Enterprise.

If you are interested Kalga has actually began his own star trek series set in the mirror universe and from what I have seen it is very interesting. Here is a link to the page.

So some information on the ship itself.
Class-Constitution heavy cruiser
Length-255 meters
Width-120meters
Height 71 meters
Displacement-193,211 tons standard. >200,000 full load
Decks-20
Armament-twenty two NH type 4 ball phaser turrets arranged in 8 banks. 3 photon torpedo tubes with forty MK 14 sublight and 12 MK 14SKW FTL torpedoes.
Embarked craft-4 type F shuttlecraft, 2 type G shuttlecraft, 4 multirole workbees, 12 excursion suits, 1 Spitefire model warpsled.
Crew-300-500 depending upon mission.

Minimum crew. 300
Thirty five officers-two hundred sixty seven enlisted.

Maximum crew. 500
One hundred officers-four hundred enlisted.

It should be noted that the difference between maximum and minimal crew is due to the role the ship is performing. With three hundred aboard there are enough people to adequately man all the ships systems and keep her running at peak performance. The extra two hundred personnel only enter the equation when the ship is not say acting as part of a battlegroup or patrolling the neutral zone. These two hundred extra are mission specialists. So if for instance the ship is exploring the frontier then you can pack aboard a lot of scientist to investigate any phenomenon you encounter. If your headed to respond to a plague then you can pack two hundred doctors and the space devoted otherwise to labs made into extra sickbay space. Or if you need to move two hundred ground troops you can do so. With the lab space converted to ground vehicle storage and ground combat command centers.

Maximum speed- warp factor 8 for six hours, 9 for one hour
Impulse- one quarter light speed

Defenses- deflector shields, energy, particle and radiation shielding and layers of composite duralanium and titanium armor over the ships vitals and subdivision internally to contain battle damage as much as possible.

Block one ships.
Constitution, Yorktown, Enterprise, Constellation, Invincible, Ark Royal, Black Prince, Hood, Soryu, Yamato, Kongo, Kaga.

The Constitution class heavy cruiser is a development of the Ticonderoga class heavy cruiser introduced in the final months of the four years war in 2445. Maintaining roughly similar combat performance the new class is almost thirty percent more massive than its predecessor in order to mount the newer more powerful RNS-5 spherical cavity Matter/Antimatter reactor and Sabre II warp nacelles, improved crew facilities, expanded science labs and extended endurance and fuel bunkers. Shield strength has also been majorly improved over the Ticonderoga. The ships entered service from 2454-58 with all the original members of the class being named for famous aircraft carriers from the past. Specifically from the blue water navies of the United States, United Kingdom and Japanese empire. A second block of ships was ordered in the 2460s as the Klingon empire began mass production of the D7 battlecruiser. These ships will enter service starting in 2565.
