If necessary my father is capable of killing quickly and efficiently.

Perhaps you should forget logic and devote yourself to motivations of passion or gain. Those are reasons for murder.

Yep.

And as I'm fond of reminding folks, the very first full Vulcan we ever met on STAR TREK plotted to get either Kirk or Spock killed so she could avoid an arranged marriage.

Not sure where people got the idea that Vulcans are always supposed to be portrayed as virtuous role models. Spock is admirable. Doesn't mean that all Vulcans are.

Even the logical Vulcans of the TOS Era literally had a physical killing method called tal shaya, from which the Romulans no doubt derived the name of the Tal Shiar. For a bunch of pacifists who never lie Vulcans sure can kill pretty ruthlessly and efficiently and keep those traditions going into Trek's future.

Well now that it is out in the open, how amazing is it that they brought back Michelle Forbes as Ensign Ro?! But why did they kill her off so soon? What an amazingly meaningful way for a beloved legacy character to go though… Ro Laren may have just sewed the seeds to save the entire Federation. Ro never abandoned her Captain and Starfleet after all. I disliked how Picard referred to Ro as having been an enemy terrorist though, the Maquis were not Starfleet or Federation enemies, they were defending their colonies from Cardassian aggression in disputed locations along the Federation/Cardassian demilitarized zone border territories. Surely Picard would have had a better understanding of just who the Maquis are and what their motives were, especially if he is friends with Janeway who would have told him all about Chakotay, B’Elanna, Tom Paris and the rest of her ex Maquis crew.

It would have been cool if Ensign Ro had mentioned that part of her motive for wanting to hunt down the Changelings was revenge against the Dominion for when they wiped out the Maquis. That could have been a good twist actually, a bit like in the Deep Space Nine two parter Home Front and Paradise Lost. But this would have made Ro a baddie again though maybe she is now a version of Valeris from TUDC if still alive? Perhaps this will turn out to be the case, Ro could have beamed off the shuttle and still be alive as part of a conspiratorial genocidal plan to wipe out the Founders?

Trust no one.

Worf sounded more like Worf this week too, as in Michael Dorn’s projection of the ‘Worf voice’. In previous episodes Dorn seemed a bit too mealy mouthed and meekly spoken, but this week he was spot on.

Did you forget Preemptive Strike.?

Picard embedded her into the Maquis, she was supposed to lead them to slaughter, but she betrayed Picard instead, and joined the Maquis for real.

Tpring was pretty ruthless in TOS. She was willing for Kirk or Spock to die just so she could get it on with Stonn.

Did anyone think Shaw seemed way too pleased that Riker and Picard got caught? He seemed positively giddy when he announced that he called Starfleet on them. And also the way he asked Seven if she wanted to be reinstated or not before she got arrested. Shaw seemed to be really having fun.
And that hand knighting was hilarious :D

The soundscape for this episode is nothing short of perfect. Starting the chapter with that computer pinging audio takes me instantly to my Happy Place.
It made me wonder if this is gonna be a TOS scene!

Man I'm so hyped about this last episode Imposters. I feel like I'm on drugs. My endorphin is on hi level. Quality of season 3 is comparable with best of the best and those are seasons 5 and 6 of Star Trek Deep Space Nine and Star Trek The Next Generation.

Terry Matalas is f.... genius. I want Picard team to film seasons 4,5,6,7,8 infinity. I don't want this to stop. It's amazing. Season 2 and they stupid present day Los Angeles story with dircetors from Desperate Houswives killed me. But season 3 made me live again and I never felt better. I feel great as I felt when I was watching seasons 5 and 6 of TNG and DS9. AMAZING!
This might be your first positive post about new Trek :D

Same as my point about the Devron system events that literally never happened. There's no reason for a random Captain to know these things... unless he was hate-reading up on Picard the same way some Trek fans continue to hate-watch their least favorite shows :D
he warned the fleet never to cross their inverse tachyon streams

I really don't like Raffi this season. I know they had her acting like she was on drugs to get information in earlier episodes but, it seems like she is really on drugs in every scene.
nope.

So Ro was Worf's handler, but he also mentions people above her. Hmm...
She's a commander, certainly there are Admirals in charge. The return of Pressman? :D

I didn't like it, but there was a Vulcan murderer on DS9 who had PTSD. Perhaps this guy also has mental issues

They used the wrong earring design for Ro, they used Kira's. But I won't knock them for that.
It's a new one that doubles as a secret data chip

I'm thinking that maybe Jack had the same defect in the parietal lobe as his father, and Beverly used her medical expertise to skirt the rules and cure her son.
The end credits show a brain scan highlighting a region close to the parietal lobe

Anyone here read Klingon? I'm curious what the writing on Martok's skull says.

(I know it's not supposed to actually be Martok, but that's clearly a picture of the Confed-timeline Martok skull prop.)
ghe'tor QI'tu' (Grethor Paradise) :D

So what are the betting odds on who is going to be the captain of the Enterprise when it finally shows up?

Tuvok?

Chakotay?

Harry Kim?
Halloway.

Nah. Just uninspired, unoriginal contrived writing.
It's an easteregg. Text on a screen. Not part of the story. That's not writing.

Gave it a 9! Was torn between an 8 and 9, but was feeling generous.
I was torn between 8 and 9 as well and gave it an 8, so now we both compensated each other for an average of 8.5 :D

Coming late to the party, some responses to various topics:

The Vulcan gangster: Neat idea. And let's not forget that as far back as "Journey to Babel," Spock admitted that his father was perfectly capable of cold-blooded murder if he had a logical motive. And then there's Valeris, who was involved in an assassination plot and coolly eliminated two of her accomplices. And as for Krinn's IDIC bling, pretty sure that, in real life, the world is full of gangsters and career criminals who conspicuously sport crosses.

The Baku snog: Even if that didn't make it into the official Starfleet database, gossip is a thing. And the love lives of famous figures have always been a source of fascination to the general public. How many books have been written about JFK's various mistresses?

Shaw's skewed perspective on the Baku affair: That wasn't meant to be an accurate summary of INSURRECTION, formally presented at an official hearing or whatever. That was just Shaw snarking at Picard, and Picard didn't correct him because, again, that wasn't some sort of official report. That was Shaw taking a cheap shot at Picard, because he's Shaw, and Picard taking it because, honestly, under the circumstances, that wasn't worth arguing about. And because, maybe, after Picard nearly got Shaw and his entire crew killed, his ship destroyed, and put Shaw in sickbay, Picard may have felt that Shaw was entitled to get a few digs in.

SNW better not pass up how irresistible Stonn is in future episodes, considering his Amok Time and recent SNW appearance hasn't convinced me what the hype about him is. Maybe they should recast him with Pete Davidson who apparently is a date magnet for actresses in real life for some reason. :guffaw:

Lol. Maybe we will be treated to a Star Tre Stonn and Tpring show. Lol

This season keeps getting better and better. This is peak streaming-era Star Trek right here, right now. I loved this one as much as I loved last week’s episode. After a fairly “ok” first two episodes, this has really been on a great trajectory. Even the Raffi and Worf storyline this week kept me engaged.

I loved the re-introduction or Ro Laren, and I thought the conclusion of her story was masterful.

Shaw. continues to make a case for his own show. Great, unique, character that just forces “all eyes on” when he’s on the screen.

9/10 second week in a row. Great stuff.
