But does this contradict anything previously established about Picard's mother? I seem to vaguely recall an illusion of her, much older, appearing in an episode of TNG.

They address this specifically in the episode, saying something to the effect that he imagined her if she had managed to grow older.

It always makes me laugh when people try to cite this "inconsistency" as a criticism of the show (not you, but the more vocal critics), because it demonstrates they didn't even pay attention.

The actress who plays Jean-Luc's mum is now a supporting character on the popular new fish out of water detective series "So Help Me Todd".

Yeef! Yvette's only previous appearance was "Where No One Has Gone Before." I didn't realize her TNG appearance was that far back.

She was also someone who got very angry and annoyed with Larry David in the latest season of Curb your Enthusiasm

Amusing side-note: The actor who played Yvette in Picard Season Two, Madeline Wise, was born on 1 March 1988 -- after the premiere of The Next Generation, between the episodes "Home Soil" and "Coming of Age."

I got pretty annoyed the first (and last) time I saw an episode thereof. Then again, I have no enthusiasm about Larry David to curb.

But back to "Monsters," are we sure the guy who showed up in the bar was FBI, and not MIB?

He showed his FBI identification badge, so I think we can assume he's on the level. An actual "MIB" would not have ID of any kind.

Of course I'm inclined to trust him, since Jay Karnes is from my home city (Omaha, NE). :D
