I'm curious what the members of this website think of STO now that they have had time to play it. I personally think it is well representative of the IP it is based on and a blast to play. Others on more hardcore MMO websites disagree and so do some of the reviewers in gaming magazines. What do you think?

I think STO is mediocre.
The ship designs are arcadish
The mission are hum drum and only a Trek Fan would love it.
Plus I would never pay to play it.

Fitting ly like the movie STO is a C.
It should be like Eve Online in effects and missions.
Instead it's Star Trek Armada...redone Legacy redone STO.....
The moral of the story...
No one will take Trek seriously untill Paramount takes Trek Seriously.

All I know is that so far I'm enjoying it very much.

Sure, it could use more polish and there are some bugs but it's still new.
I can only see it getting better as the months pass.

I love it. I agree that it will just get better and better. I just wish you could beam down to every planet and just some. I would like to see what earth looks like. We never really saw much of it in the shows and movies. Just starfleet command and one street in Voyager.

Brilliant game and I'm really enjoying it. Only thing that stops it being an A is that it has been a bit buggy at times, but not enough to stop me playing.

I'm enjoying it so far - but its all a bit sameish and sitting there repeatedly hitting "1" to fire my weapons at a character on the ground is tedium personified! DOn't think I'll be taking out a subscription, which is a shame, as it does have beautiful design and looks really pretty. :(

B - Hopefull they'll continue to add and develop it well.

Huh? Yoiu want to do nothing but ferry items from point A to point B; mine asteriods, or hunt Pirates? Sorry, as light as some of the PvE STO content is, I'd HARDLY point to EVE and say - "Hey, here's how to do PvE content."

I vote C, but I think the game has potential to become an A-.

There are some things they CAN'T fix though. And although I knew it was Cryptic and I knew it would be heavily instanced, I would prefer it to be a lot more open and for space to seem more vast.

My 2 cents.

This is pretty much the way I feel about it. The game has a great foundation, but it's missing a few things. I'm enjoying myself immensely right now but I don't think there's enough to keep me playing (and paying) month after month.

I think the graphics are fantastic and the content is atrocious. I gave it a C. I bought a lifetime subscription so I really hope the content gets better.

heres a question: say you stop paying 6 months from now. Do you loose your history?

No (as long as you reactivate the same account you had). To date no MMO has erased unsubbed characters, since they always hold out hope you'll return.
Not only that, but character data probably is only a few megabytes in size, if that. Deleting characters probably wouldn't save that much space.

Same here.

I just find missions (especially ground missions) to be damn repetitive. A typical mission goes like this:

1) Enter a system
2) Destroy enemy ships in orbit
3) beam down, kill a lot of bad guys (not always part of a mission)
4) beam back up, kill more enemy ships
5) mission over.

i played the beta, went from having fun to not enjoying it pretty quickly. after beta ended, i didnt bother to pick up the game, thinking i'd get it a month after launch... honestly, i am not sure if i will end up picking it up.

How long do you get online when you first buy the game, i was reading that it was 30 days but some have been saying recently that its been increased to 60 days.

I certainly would not mind buying the game for £30 and getting two months of play out of it for free just to get it out of my system.

Looks like you have to buy directly from Atari and before March 3rd to get the deal. Incidentally, people have been raising hell on the official forums over this. It doesn't bother me much if it gets more people in the game but a lot of folks feel cheated.
