Star Trek - Horizon (Enterprise Feature-Length Fan Film)

This is amazing. Tommy is extremely talented. Also taking into consideration that this is a fan film, the acting is far better than I thought it was going to be.

Very well done.

The more I see of this, the more impressed I am. here's a group that instead of spending time talking up their production at Cons and worrying more about infrastructure then finishing the actual production, appear to have just been keeping their noses to the grindstone and actually producing and finishing the film they set out to make - and the snippets I have seen are impressive across the board with regard to acting, sets (virtual and otherwise); sound design, sound mix, and music; and VERY nicely done visual effects that are very much akin to the visual style done for the 'Enterprise' series.

My favorite series is still TOS (saw my first TOS episode in 1969 on NBC at age 6); but of all the 'modern' (Read post 1987) Star Trek series, my second favorite is 'Enterprise (I loved what they did with that series in Seasons 3 and 4); and this project comes across to me as very much in keeping with the esthetic of ENT - and really looks like something fun, and entertaining in the best spirit of that show. I was kind of wondering what happened to this as I hadn't really heard or seen much; but again it appears that's because this group has been heads down working on finishing their production - at which point the result should speak for itself; better than any lip service from the producers. -- Bravo.

I really hope you guys can meet the release date you've set, and nothing nasty rears its proverbial head to cause any issues or worse - cause you guys to be unable to release anything. It does look VERY impressive to me based on the snippets I've caught. Looking forward to viewing the final result.

I've been following Horizon for a while. Apart from the actors, it's basically a one-man gig. Huge props to Tommy Kraft. I'm still unsure of the visual style. (which was probably used to cover the fact that the sets are 90% digital)
I think I'll let the story and performances speak for themselves when it releases and make my mind up based on that.

Wow this is quite the surprise. I had no idea anyone was even considering an Enterprise-era fanfilm. I'm looking forward to watching this!

It really is amazing what people can do these days when they put the money where it needs to go, and focus on getting it done.

Yes, the 1701 article posted above also made note of this:
"...And when 'Star Trek: Horizon' premieres online after three years of hard work, Kraft will have done it all for less than $50,000... ...a crowdfunding campaign used to help finish the film raised more than double the $10,000 he had sought. While another unofficial Star Trek production says it needs $2 million to complete its project."

Saw the trailer and the opening scene. The Starfleet uniforms could be improved, and Long Haired Guy's holster was flapping around like nobody's business, but otherwise it was very, very impressive!

Apparently no you don't but apparently also the film will attempt to tie some dangling plot threads I.e. With the Romulans and Future Guy (his appearance in the trailer piqued my interest in Horizon)

So you could almost see this as a proper Enterprise finale! But it is apparently viewable as a single movie

Do I need to have watched Enterprise to follow this? Looks good.

No, I don’t think so. Although the Enterprise NX-01 will feature in some of the battle scenes, this fan film will foucus on an entirely different ship and crew and is set after the ST:ENT series had finished. Furthermore an Iconian story arc was never explored in the Enterprise series.

That being said, here is some information that might be helpful for you to know.

· Although the Enterprise NX-01 has already encountered the Romulan’s in the series, the humans have not yet seen their faces and do not know that Romulan’s share a common ancestry to Vulcan’s. Little is known about the Romulan Star Empire in general. This is why in the film the Romulan’s will be wearing masks when they board the Enterprise.

· In the ST:ENT series corrupt Vulcan officials were covertly working with the Romulan’s against Starfleet.

· Although there is a ‘Collation of Planets’ the ‘United Federation of Planets’ has not yet been founded.

· There was also a story arc about a temporal cold war in which an anonymous person was sending messages into the past to influence the future. In Star Trek Horizon you will see the shadowy future guy communicating with the Romulan’s. I wonder if future guy will turn out to be a Romulan (perhaps trying to influence the past to save Romulus from destruction)?
