Star Trek Discovery Uniforms

The only one wearing a catsuit should be M'Ress.

Thanks for all the comments!

As for the jumpsuit, it's not the first time a more utilitarian looking working vest is seen alongside a regular uniform, after all, that was the original intention of the DS9 uniform. They were designed to be used only on outposts and stations, more 'work intensive' assignments. Then Generations and Voyager ruined that intention by showing the uniforms being used on a starship...

Anyway, back to the matter at hand, I've updated the ranks to show the newly released cadet insignia (I assume that the four bars indicate it's a 4th year cadet, but I don't want to speculate).

One difference I notice in the graphic: the shoulder braid looks to have 4 lines of braid on the ones I've seen photos of, as opposed to 5.

@Markonian: hahaha, a bit much? Thanks!

@fireproof78: Thanks! :)

@KirkusOveractus: Thanks! The shoulder braids are thinner on the female uniform and hence only have four braids, while the male version has five.
Thank you for replying! You are spot on, and it was something I didn't notice at all as a difference between the male and female unis!

Question: may I be able to print out a version of one of your insignia badges? I want to use that as a temporary placement on my DIY costume until I can get a QMx one. Just wanted to make sure it's OK.

This definitely needs to be shared.
I will! Going to work on the shoulder braid tonight. So far, it's by no means a professional or experienced job, but I put the walking in the corridor picture from Entertainment Weekly next to it and I smiled. It looks nice and I'm impressing myself!

OK, here are the first photos and one as of last night! My first steps were to find a dark blue crew neck pullover shirt from the thrift store (cotton, T-Shirt weight).

After that, I got 1/4" wide gold braid from the craft store, fabric glue and had some "dark" iron on transfers.

Taking the transfers, I ran off the pattern that was used in the 2009 and Into Darkness movies, Command color. I printed those and cut them to the shapes needed for the sides.

Then I laid them out and ironed them on to the shirt after this layout:

That was part of the first night. The second part was to run the 6 lines of braid that go down from the armpit. I used fabric glue to hold them on. After drying overnight, I did the braid on the front center (making sure to have it start at the bottom at the center and end at the collar off-center). I also did the 5 lines of braid around the shoulders. I ran out of braid on one, so I need to do the fifth braid on one of the shoulders:

That's where I am so far! I have to do the offset collar, get the insignia ready (going to iron one on from the infographic here!) and then I'll do pants to match later on.

What do you think?

The admiral delta shield looks amazing! I didn’t notice the details when I watched the episodes. I love how the laurels are formed from tiny deltas! Someone better release a replica!
