Star Cops

Really loved watching this show when it aired on my local PBS station. I liked that the lead wasn't a typical good-looking, square-jaw type. He looked like a cop and acted like one. Although the show could fallback on stereotypes when it came to the more ethnic characters.

And what was wrong with the theme song? Such 80s rock. :D

The song's fine. It's the singer I can't stand. he sounds like he's straining on the john whenver he tries to hit a high note.

So we can take it you're not familiar with Justin Haywood/The Moody Blues :)

I'm familiar with both, but straining-on-the-john singing is still straining-on-the-john singing, no matter who's doing it.

I didn't mind the song. I still have the VHS release - never knew there had been a DVD already!

Lost the VHS copies in the divorce (damn you vile woman!!!).

I'm working on a costume for the MCM Expo in London in October, hell of a job finding coveralls in the right colour though!

Got a green jacket stitched with ISPF and Moonbase patches that turned up in an army surplus store in Norwich (No, I don't know why either) 25 years ago. Not a perfect match for Nathan's, but close enough...

I've got the ISPF badge somewhere, but not the moonbase one.

I can't remember where I got it (possibly this bookshop in Sheffield that had all sorts of stuff like that) but I've had it a while.

I dealt with a place called the Sheffield Space Centre by mail order many, many moons ago and I seem to recall I bought an ISPF patch from them back in the day - two decades on who knows where it is, possibly in a box in an attic somewhere.

That's the one. Before I was online, I used to go down to the store once a month and usually ended up filling a rucksack with books and various other items. (That was back when I could get so much free train fare per year though)

Even after I went on-line, there was still some stuff easier to get there than anywhere else.

It's the first place that I saw selling Nostromo and United States Colonial Marines patches, which at least I do know where they are, in my patch collection box including Umbrella Corporation, Weyland-Yutani, and Battlestar Galactica patches. Got some interesting books and comics from them in the past too.

I thought I noticed their advert in a recent issue of SFX magazine, good to hear that they're still around.

I lived around the corner from the shop! :) I remember the show. Unfortunately I only remember that it existed and pretty much not any other thing about it!
