Spartacus: Vengenace season 2

While I enjoyed ep 2, it still felt like an hour of setting up for the "rest of the story".

Was happy that I was right about where Doctore/Oenomaus sent himself... a man without honor deserves to go to the Pits... and was even happier to see YOUNG Titus acting as THE mentor rather than simply the master.

I would like to know what was on that "love note?" that Ashur passed to Lucretia in the market... not to mention how much of her current craziness is real vs an act.

I suspect that the "love interest" that Lucy spoke of in one of her interviews within the male rebel camp was also previewed this past Friday. We'll just have to wait and see if I'm right about Agron and his new buddy.

Things which hold promise... the female blonde slave's ability to make former slave Mira stop and consider her own status. I assume the blonde is the one that is turned into the female warrior from the promos... but who knows.

According to the blog at the Ausxip website... a "brunette" was giving Lucy quite a hard time about ancient Roman history until Lucy finally caught a clue and realized she was a plant... That it wasn't a rabid Xena fan but rather her fellow actress from Spartacus: Vengeance, Ellen Hoffman.

I have been known to fly to Cleveland and drive to Jersey not to mention drive to Hartford twice in 8 days for Kate Mulgrew... but I couldn't stir myself to fly to California for the "last" Xena convention.

I think the prospect of that many rabid Xena fans in one room scared the "you know what" out of me!

JANEWAY always has... and always will... RULE this fangirl's heart!

Finally was able to watch the 1st. four episodes of season 2 last night and this morning. Nice to see the brief tribute to Andy at the end of the closing credits for the 1st. episode. Not so sure about the actor now playing Spartacus; he lacks the intensity and presence that Andy brought to the role. He also looks like he needs to bulk up and hit the gym a bit more. By the end of the third episode, I thought he was owning the role a bit better.

Don't know when I'll get to see the rest.

I thought Liam was stepping into the role of Spartacus more completely in this 4th episode. I also liked seeing the intrigue on the Roman half of the story ratchet up several notches with that other Praetor and the Senator. I could have done without such a grusome torture scene, but wonder if Glaber gasped as much as I did at Illythia's willingness to plunge a blade into the slave.

Asher really is a survivor, isn't he?

Too bad Glaber's Lt didn't listen more closely to him.

Watching Lucretia in the episode makes me think of that Hepburn/O'Toole movie, "The Lion in Winter". I love that movie because everytime I watch it, its different... depending on whether I think they are lying OR telling the truth this time around.

Is Lucretia lying when she says she bed the old man to help out Illythia? Why would she want to help the blonde witch, if Lucretia really recalls "everything" that happened before/during the massacre? Crixus may have stabbed Lucretia in the belly during their last fateful encounter... but it was ILLYTHIA who stabbed her in the back by locking them into the ludus during the massacre.

One does wonder how Agron found Spartacus et al, since all the men sent ahead for help ended up dying. Oh well. Can't have every plot point explained in 56 minutes. If there are 14 more minutes of story per episode, then our measely 10 ep run is equivalent to 13.3 eps on broadcast TV.

Loved the intrigue going on with Lucretia & Asher, and yet did she know he was going to tell Glaber of the red vial all along, or did she really want him to go out there and switch it out?

Wonder if Asher liked being in the champion's cell while he was prisoner?

"She was my WIFE! You were my BROTHER!" Loved how Onemeous just wailed on Gannicus in the arena!

Poor Raskos(?)... you knew someone was going to die and it couldn't be one of Spartacus' Generals. Wonder if the blonde slave will turn towards a "new" recruit as her protector?

Wonder what will happen to Gannicus with the rudis lying on the sands of the burnt out arena?

Wonder when we will see Varinius again? He sure doesn't want Illityia now that she doesn't have a Father for a Senator!

Wonder who's arms Lucretia will go to next, to seek solace/power?

Great episode that! I had no idea what they where planning until the reveal. Thats one way of sending a message:)

More importantly, with her father dead, she can't get her marriage dissolved anymore.
Varinius, at that point, simply realized that it was a lost cause.
