Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Discussion

I disagree about the new sherif being an unnecessary complication. The characters have been getting away with doing what ever they want. That wouldn't happen in real life. She adds normalcy back to the show. She's a hard-ass by the book sheriff and to me refreshing. Most fantasy shows like this, when all
the characters buy into what ever the premis is, removes it even further from being somewhat grounded. You need her to reinforce that this wackiness is happening in a fairly normal situation.

It's Sleepy Hollow. "Normal" and "grounded" are the last things we want in this show. The crazier it gets, the more we love it.

The only thing that bothers me a bit is this underground network of tunnels that no one seems to know about, or if they are known about, no one has bothered to ever explore them. Maybe I missed something back in season one where Abby and Crane had to break through a wall or something to get in there, but it just seems to me that those tunnels would have been picked clean by now over the years.

I know, I know... Suspension of disbelief and such...

^Yes, they did have to break through a wall in the police station to gain access to the tunnels, as I recall. Though there's clearly a door to them in the archives. I don't remember whether it was initially hidden as well.

I was kind of surprised when the sheriff waltzed right in. Come to think of it, maybe the fact that she knew about it is foreshadowing of some kind.

Don't confuse the archive room with the tunnels.

Also recall she's worked in Sleepy Hollow before, she even knew Abby and her sister.

And she knew their mother. I'm sure that connection will come into play later. There must more to this hard ass sheriff than just being the stereotypical hard ass boss.

Yeah, I was curious about her knowing the Mills sisters' mother. They didn't make much of an issue of it here, but I have a feeling that something will come of it later.

I guess I am a little confused, because I thought the archive room was "forgotten," if not secret. I wonder what brought the sheriff down there for a visit.

I don't think it was "forgotten", they weren't using it for anything else. I have a feeling their hanging around there was probably pretty common knowledge, eve if the other cops and people didn't know what they were doing.

So was the Tyrean shekel Crane and Mills found one of 30 silver coins that Judas Iscariot owned? I liked the reference to Benedict Arnold and how his loyalties shifted because of the coin's dark influence.

At the beginning of the show, Ichabod pointed to a couple of men holding hands in a restaurant, and Abbie misread Ichabod as being intrigued by the couple's affectionate display. He then corrected her by saying he was referring to guys wearing hats indoors. "I also saw the final episode of Glee."

Finally caught up with the new episodes. I like this show, there's nothing quite like it for me on TV right now, it has that nice balance of fun adventure and mythology and not being too light nor too serious. And I don't know what it is but I thrill every time at the imagery of the headless horsemen with a shotgun and submachine guns. And while it's trying to squeeze in Ben Franklin to the story he's a hoot.

However, Reyes is a bit much, I wouldn't be shocked to see her twirling her mustache. Luckily I wasn't eating or I may have snorted my drink when she shot the banker wearing body armor. Where did that come from?

Just saw the Pied Piper episode. The monster of the week theme seems to work well for this show, especially since it serves the long-running arc about the Apocalypse. (I was just reading in EW magazine that Crane and Abbie have a seven-year mission to battle Molloch and his forces; will the series be successful enough to last seven seasons?) I liked how the two characters defeated the Piper, with some help from that "collector" Hawley. I don't care about this character at all. Although he's sort of an ally to the two Witnesses, his presence isn't really warranted, and he feels more like a third wheel.

Next week's villain sounds like either a banshee or La Llorona, the Weeping Woman from Latin American folklore.

If you use the Waze app for navigation, and you're a fan of Sleepy Hollow, you can now get spoken directions from Ichabod Crane. If you have the app running, you should get an add pop-up with an option to install the voice, so just use that. Otherwise, you should be able to check settings. You'll also find that Terry Crews' voice is available, so I might have to try that out too.

Available for Android, iOS and WP, links to each app store can be found here: https://www.waze.com

The Waze GPS app with Ichabod Crane is pretty awesome. I used it twice today, just because and he tells you to turn you carriage left or right. He also says Ah…you have arrived at your destination. It is great in his voice.

While we didn't get any big movement on the main arc this week, this was a fun, more standalone episode. I loved Irving's little apocalyptic fantasy, and the driving lesson scene was a lot of fun. I actually like Hawley so far. Apparently they must run into again because before the season started I09 had an article about a visit to the set one of the writers took, and she described a scene with Hawley that I don't think we've seen yet.

But it wouldn't be complete unless he criticizes your driving with biting eloquence and makes acerbic commentary about the follies of the modern world.

Nice episode as usual--getting spoiled here... Although I wondered during the show if a breast reduction had taken place and lamented seeing Noble as a cookie-cutter baddie, eliminating his human side.
