The three DC Universe Original Animated Movies for 2012 were revealed at Comic-Con. The first, Justice League: Doom (an adaptation of the "Tower of Babel" story arc from JLA) we already knew about. The second release will be Superman vs. The Elite. The third title will be the heavily rumored and now confirmed adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns.

They need to get everyone back who did the Dark Knight segment on the old Batman the Animated Series, especially Michael Ironside as Batman.

Aside from TDKR (which I have little interest in), I have no idea what those are. But I'm glad we're getting at least one title that isn't strictly Supes or Bats, although I'm sure they'll be prominent in the JL one.

Tower of Babel is pretty much Bat-centric.

Superman vs Elite, I wonder who is going to write that one. Maybe Joe Kelly himself?

i assume superman vs elite will be based on the Action Comics #775 issue. wasn't it called "What's so funny about truth, justice and the american way?" i remember it getting rave reviews.

Superman vs The Elite is presumably an adaptation of the famous Joe Kelly story pitting Superman against analogues for the Wildstorm antihero team The Authority. It came at the height of that group's popularity under Warren Ellis and Mark Millar, and was a response in favour of the traditional values embodied by Superman.

So, it was Superman fighting analogs of analogs of the Justice League?

Do you think that they will actually use Wildstorm characters now that they are being assimilated by nuDC?

Absolutely not. The point of using analogues (beyond copyright issues, which wouldn't be in play here) is not to overtly disrespect other people's characters.

While I am definitely going to be checking these out, I am disappointed they aren't moving beyond the heroes they've already done. I know they said they were sticking to Superman and Batman, but I was really hoping there would be a chance they would change there minds and do something like Flash or Green Arrow. To me these DCU Animated movies would be the perfect opportunity to test the waters with some of their other heroes. But I guess the failure of Wonder Woman (which I thought was an awesome movie by the way) scared them away from other heroes.

Wonder Woman actually ended up selling very well, but it was much weaker out of the gate than the other titles and WB's retail partners look for titles that'll sell strongly in the first couple of weeks rather than ones that sit on the shelves and eventually rack up good sales over the long haul. I think we may only see titles other than Batman, Superman and JLA when there's a live action feature to slipstream behind.

Are they going to keep doing DC Showcase Shorts? I know BY1 is going to have a Catwoman one.

Those goddamn stupid produce sale models keep people from a lot of great entertainment.

I'm excited for "Justice League Doom" and "The Dark Knight Returns". "Superman Vs The Elite" is an interesting choice to adapt. Many fans point to it as one of the most poignant Superman stories of the 2000's. It will be interesting to see who writes it. I suspect that it could potentially be the most darkest one of these DTV's we've had yet.

Action #775 was the book that made me realize Superman is actually my favorite hero, so I'm pretty happy with the announcement of "Superman vs. The Elite".

good picks! Yes superman and batman are the safe bet ! they are in buss. to make money! and they make good money! Does any 1 know how did the G.L animated movie do last mouth? i bet the dark night will sale the most!:)
