For his death to still affect people years later, I knew it had to be a grand death. The bio I had in mind for Ja-Inrosh was that he had been aboard the Silverfin since she was commissioned in 2320, when he began as Second/Chief Navigation Officer, then First Officer, before replacing the ship's first CO, Captain Cassandra Stillwell sometime in the 2340s. So he has been with the ship throughout her entire 'life', so his shoes were always going to be a big pair to fill.
A story I have thought up to work on in the future, where he will have a cameo, has made me think I might need to make a little edit to this story. But I can't really give away much more than that.
