Sikarians And The Borg...

Farscape One

The trajector that the Sikarians used got them all across the quadrant according to Gath. 40,000 light years out from Sikaris.

Given how advanced that technology is, I wonder if the Borg ever encountered it or the Sikarians. Or if they encountered the Borg.

At the very least, it would have given us a couple of potentially interesting episodes.

Another thought... they were the only race pre-Nekrit Expanse that Voyager had the potential to encounter again, given how far their trajector took them. Definitely more likely than the Talaxians in "HOMESTEAD".

Thoughts, everyone?

We don't know the exact capability of the Sikarian technology. Even though the Voyager crew seems to think it can bring them everywhere in a 40.000 LY radius sphere, for all we know it's possible it actually can't, but only to specific locations, "pockets" in space-time. But even if that's true, it would still be a technology with great potential (even if they could find just one such 'pocket' that would cut 25 years off their journey, that would still be a huge boost).

Also, I have the feeling that Sikarian culture is rather inward-looking, aimed at prioritising their own pleasures, which probably would dispose them less to travel, even if they have the capability. Yes, they can and do travel to places (they search out Voyager for a start), but still, they'll mainly travel to places that don't cost them too much effort to get to and give them pleasure.

These two factors might minimise the chance that Voyager would meet them again.

But the main reason we didn't encounter them again, I think, is that there wasn't too much potential in this species to dedicate multiple episodes to them. Their at-first-seemingly friendly culture, that turns out to be mainly self-interested and hedonistic turns tiresome and old quickly. They only could stay interesting if they had other sides to them we didn't get to see in Prime Factors.
