Sherlock - BBC ONE & HD - Sunday 25th

Brilliant episode...brilliant series. Just fantastic. I love the misdirection and reveals first with Mycroft in "The Lady in Pink" and now with Moriarty. The confrontation at the end of this episode was executed brilliantly. The episode it's self was brilliant. The quality of each episode is spectacular. I love the way this series is shot. The score is great (I want a soundtrack). I think this series is going to pick up a couple of BAFTA awards...it deserves them if it does. I can't wait for more and a region one release of the DVD.

I've already ordered the blu-rays. I enjoyed last night's episode, despite being spaced out on painkillers and not quite focusing on it properly. They really did brilliantly and I equal parts love and hate the cliffhanger.

Loved Sherlock getting into the Jeremy Kyle show.(Have I got the name right?) I have always suspected that it was otherwise intelligent people keeping shows like this and BB on the air.;)

I wonder if they will show us how they escaped or will series two just start off with the two back in the flat?

Any money they're just back in the flat.

I bloody hate cliffhangers - Doctor Who's are bad enough making you wait a week. This gap could last months!

Apart from
Moriarty being a let-down with his silly voice (a put-on? Maybe.) and ridiculous Not Killing Sherlock When He Had Him In His Power Have We Learned Nothing From Bond Villains And Yes, Even Dr Evil type silliness,
I loved it. Moar!

:D

I must admit I not completely sold on the actor playing Moriarty,But I was wrong about who and Bond so he will probably end up being the best TV villein ever.

Me? I've got a jiggered knee and an arthritic hip but nothing losing a stone wouldn't help (am trying again). Dog is fantastic. Steroid-driven but fantastic. Goes to vet tomorrow so they might start reducing her dose.

Sorry everyone, back on topic now.

I finally had my joint problems diagnosed. It's something called hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy, there is a treatment but it's new, involves self administed injections and side effects I don't fancy risking...

On topic, having just read the whole exchange with Sherlock not knowing about the solar system in A Study in Scarlet I thought it was a nice inclusion, especially in this day and age, it's a much more grievous lack of knowledge for someone now, so shows much more how obsessed with his own little areas of expertise he is, rather than being a genius with unlimited knowledge, as so many are portrayed as nowadays.

Don't pretend you have to ask! :p :D

That bit was inspired. Holmes using all his deductive powers to decide who's the baby-daddy and shouting at the telly: "Of course he's not the father.... just look at the turn-ups on his jeans!"

Sorry to hear you're having problems and am in pain Bob...I am still suffering from a twisting pelvis which continues to grind against my pubic bone. My pelvis bone are jammed and hiking up due to my club foot suffice it to say I know what great pain is like to suffer through.

Regarding Moriarty...I loved the actor they chose and how he performed him with the weird voice mannerisms, I suspect that is on purpose maybe to show how maniac Moriarty really is. As for him not killing Sherlock? Why would he want to? He has already stated that he's bored and sees Sherlock as his ultimate challenge as Sherlock surely must see Moriarty. He also stated and I think proved that he can have both Watson and Holmes killed at any time he wants to. This is FUN for Jim as it is for Holmes. That was why he didn't kill him. Killing Sherlock would give him nothing to do.

The voice just ruined it for me. My interest in a villain decreases immensely if I can't take him seriously. Manic is one thing, but there was nothing intimidating about him at all.

What accent was he supposed to be doing there? It seemed to go back and forth between several, with about half of it being very clearly American/'mid-Atlantic'. The first big misstep of the series IMO.

Not for me...I can see where it would put people off but this just seems to be a different take on Moriarty. I can't wait to see more of him.

I'd call this the second best episode of the series. definately an improvement over last week.

For me the juries still out on Moriarty. Not quite sure what to make of his shifting voice and manerisms. Is he meant to be mentally disabled, or just barking mad? Whatever it is, it definately gets under your skin. Which to me is fine. Charmingly evil is fine. But in a show like this I like having one who's just downright creepy.

Hopefully next time we'll actually get to see him at work. Its a bit hard right now to associate that weasily little guy with such a string of cunning traps and plots.

Can't wait for the next series.

We already have more than just his first physical appearance though...we've had evidence of his work through the entire series. He's a sadistic little sod.

An interview with Steven Moffat and Sue Virtue.

They say there'll be more episodes, again 90 minute format they just have a meeting to go to to decide when and how many.

Steven Moffat. Busiest man in showbusiness.

Of course. But sometimes you just need to actually see them doing it to make that mental connection. I dunno, have him giving a minion orders, or smacking an old lady or something.
