Robin Williams dead at the age of 63

It's also confirmed by Variety, and E! Online, both saying they've had it confirmed by Williams' publicist. :(

Variety said:
Veteran film and television comedic actor Robin Williams was found dead on Monday. He was 63.
The cause of death is believed to be suicide via asphyxiation, according to the coroner’s office in Tiburon, Calif. He was found in his home.

According to his publicist, who confirmed the news, the actor had been battling depression of late and had recently entered 12-step rehab stint for drug abuse.

His wife Susan Schneider said in a statement, “I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”

Williams is best known for both comedic and dramatic roles in movies including “Good Will Hunting,” for which he won a Best Supporting Actor in 1997. In addition, he won several Emmys, Golden Globes.

Williams’ film career was bookended by TV roles including his breakout role on the ABC sitcom “Mork & Mindy” in 1978. He returned to TV on CBS last season, “The Crazy Ones.”

He is survived by his wife and three children.

Robin Williams has died.

Shockingly, suddenly, tragically, the actor was found dead at his home in Tiburon, Calif., this morning, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office Coroner Division.

"Robin Williams passed away this morning," his rep confirmed to E! News. "He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time."

So sad. Mrs. Doubtfire, Hook, Good Will Hunting. He made countless movies that entertained the world.

Depression sucks. :(

RIP

Read this just now. Shocking. The man was the epitome of life and alive. Energetic and vivacious. He defined what was funny and taught me the word, "improvisation." This is shocking to say the least.

Awful, awful news. :(

I think the first thing I ever saw him in was Popeye. I'd watch the VHS tape over and over when I'd visit my grandmother. To this day, I always think of him when I eat spinach. He'll always be Popeye--and many other beloved characters--to me.

RIP Robin Williams.

Despite the thrashing it received, I actually liked The Crazy Ones and was disappointed it got canceled. Williams seemed liked he in his element on that show.

Very sad. Am at work and trying not to cry, think it's best to stay away from the internet for a while. Twitter has erupted, and who could blame it.

Damn it!!! Who will tweak the universe by the nose now Robin?

We will remember you all the same....whatever dreams may come.

The first thing I saw him was in Happy Days, then Mork & Mindy, then literally tons of movies. I remember some of his stand-up too.

Like Gryffindorian, said, one of the greatest of our generation and not even that can stop depression taking it's toll.

R.I.P. Mork.
